Princess Kate Honored the Queen with Her Dress and Jewelry at Her Funeral
Princess Kate paid homage to the late Queen Elizabeth II while attending her funeral.
The Princess of Wales arrived for the state funeral service today with her two eldest children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, all dressed in elegant mourning looks. Kate's ensemble consisted of a black coat dress by Alexander McQueen, matching stockings, pointed-toe Gianvito Rossi pumps, and a hat with a bow and netted veil in the front by Philip Treacy.
She previously wore a white version of the coat dress for the Trooping of Colour parade in June, during the Platinum Jubilee celebrating the queen's 70-year reign.
For the funeral, Kate also accessorized with meaningful, classic jewels, including Bahrain pearl drop earrings and a four-strand Japanese pearl choker necklace with a diamond center that once belonged to Queen Elizabeth II. Princess Diana also previously wore the choker.
Kate previously wore the earrings and four-row pearl choker to Prince Philip's funeral in April 2021.
It is traditional for royals to wear pearls during times of mourning.
Kate has honored the late monarch various times over the period of mourning for her. For the procession of the queen's coffin, Kate wore a stunning diamond-and-pearl brooch in the shape of three leaves that once belonged to Queen Elizabeth II. And this weekend, she wore the late queen's famous three-strand pearl necklace during a Buckingham Palace lunch.
She and her kids stood together, with Duchess Meghan, today as the service at Westminster Abbey in London took place.
Prince William wore his military uniform as a sign of respect for his grandmother, and stood by Prince Harry and King Charles III after walking together behind the queen's coffin.
The funeral service began at 11 a.m. U.K. time and was attended by the queen's surviving family members, as well as royals from other countries and world leaders.
Following the funeral, the late monarch will be laid to rest at St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle, the same place her husband of more than 70 years, Prince Philip, was buried following his death last year.
