Weā€™ve all been there: itā€™s lunchtime, and you have no idea what youā€™re going to make for dinner tonight. One of the best parts of 2022 is that grocery delivery services like Walmart+ have made it simple to order online and have things delivered on the same day. Where we used to be stuck with takeout as the only option if the fridge was empty, now we can place a quick order online and have fresh, organic ingredients waiting for us when we get home.

When I heard about Walmart+, Iā€™ll admit, I was skeptical. Why mess with my tried and true Whole Foods deliveries? But then Amazon added a $9.95 delivery fee to those orders, even with my Prime membership, and I started looking for other options. I signed up for a free 30 day trial of Walmart+, and started shopping: what I found was a huge variety of fresh, organic produce and fresh groceries, all delivered on the same day, and in the same order as my cleaning supplies, beauty products and things I needed for the house. When the trial was over, I kept Walmart+, and I use it all the time now ā€” not just when Iā€™m at home, but when Iā€™m traveling and I need snacks and essentials delivered to my hotel, too.

So if you're making your grocery list, hereā€™s whatā€™s fresh and in season that you can get delivered today without ever leaving home.

Artichokes

If youā€™ve only had artichoke hearts from a jar, you donā€™t know what youā€™re missing. The artichoke is one of springā€™s quintessential flavors, and right now is the best time to enjoy this unique and versatile vegetable. Steam it and serve it with drawn butter, stuff it and bake it, or grill it and serve it with a spicy aioli. You canā€™t go wrong.

Cauliflower

You'd be surprised how versatile cauliflower can be. (Photo: Walmart)

Cauliflower is the magician of the vegetable world: even if you think you donā€™t like it, youā€™ve probably eaten it and not known ā€¦ and even liked it. This neutral vegetable can be minced and added to anything from casseroles to macaroni and cheese and it will virtually disappear, all the while adding another serving of vegetables to your plate. But give cauliflower a shot on its own, especially spiced and roasted whole in the oven.

Brussels sprouts

The worst of all childhood vegetables is enjoying a renaissance, thanks to chefs across the nation who, it seems, all started making Brussels sprouts taste good at the same time. Try pan-roasting Brussels with some bacon pieces and a minced shallot. Youā€™d be shocked at how delicious they can be, even if you think you donā€™t like them.

Spring onions are a truly special part of the season, and this time of year, leeks and other onion varieties are their freshest and most delicious. I love adding leeks to soups, but really, they add depth of flavor to almost anything. Try roasting salmon or chicken in the oven topped with sliced leeks and fresh dill.

Radishes

If you think you donā€™t like radishes, this is the time of year to give this outlier vegetable another shot. In the spring, radishes are at their mildest and most vibrant. The really surprising part? The best and simplest way to enjoy them is raw with a smear of really good butter and a sprinkle of sea salt. Donā€™t believe me? Try it for yourself and see.

Walmart+ offers a free 30 day trial, and is $12.95/month or $98/year for a subscription that includes same-day grocery and household delivery from Walmart stores, free 2-day shipping on anything that canā€™t be delivered same-day, and lower gas prices from Walmart and Samā€™s Club gas stations. That's on top of prescription savings and exclusive access to members only sales.

What are you waiting for? Freshen up this week's grocery run and give these seasonal flavors a try.
