WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — There are ways to protect not just yourself from the heat but also your pets.

The Kansas Humane Society says to walk your dog early in the morning or late at night. Check the pavement to make sure it is not too hot for their paws, and look out for signs of heat stroke, like vomiting and shaking paws.

“If you think your dog is showing signs of heat stroke, get them into the shade, bring them inside. It’s really important to bring your animals inside during the day. Especially right now,” said Kansas Humane Society Director of Communications and Marketing Jordan Bani-Younes.
