PSU hosts two-piano concert to celebrate Hispanic Music Festival
PITTSBURG, Kan. — A piano concert with a Hispanic flair filled the recital hall on the Pittsburg State University campus on Sunday.
Two pianos, one stage.
“I love two-piano music and I love this ah, slate of music that we have prepared. It’s really exciting, really fun,” said Melinda Groves, PSU duo piano concert piano player.
The third concert for Pittsburg State University’s first-ever Hispanic music festival.
International performer Melinda Groves, joining Mexico City native and PSU adjunct teacher, Isaac Hernandez on the dueling pianos.
“We’re doing two pieces. He’s an Argentinean composer. They also new to me. I’d never heard of this music, but I’ve enjoyed learning it,” said Groves.

The concert also features music by Mexican and Cuban composers.
“Each concert is going to is going to bring something special and something unique in that way,” said Isaac Hernandez, PSU piano professor.
That unique factor for Hernandez is being able to bring Hispanic culture of music and lifestyle to life with every key.
“This is a chance for us to share our music and our roots, our traditions. It is. It has a special meaning for me because I belong to that community,” said Hernandez.
Tradition that Hernandez will continue sharing with the community.
“Really excited and looking forward for the next one, which is as motivating to keep doing this, this type of event,” said Hernandez.
While the next concert will be held later this week, the hope is audiences will walk away with a deeper understanding of the Hispanic culture.
“I love this music and I’m hoping that people will enjoy it and that we’ll pass on the love of music. People just enjoy hearing this music,” said Groves.
