Psychics, Astrologers, and Soothsayers Share Their Predictions For 2021
Luca Di Lotti/Stocksy
As much as we love reading our horoscopes and consulting with the stars, it’s a big ask to expect anyone to know what the future holds right now. With the air still thick with uncertainty around what may happen in the coming days, weeks, and months, it can seem pointless, even ill-advised, to try and predict the events of 2021.

But, if we look back to this time last year, divination experts were already aware of certain esoteric forces that would eventually impact us in 2020. We were warned to save our money and be on guard for an economic fallout. The planets hinted at Trump’s failure to win re-election. And, as the pandemic ramped up, astrologers and healers came out in droves to highlight the spiritual warning signs: a connection between Saturn and Pluto in January 2020 that signaled global upheaval; a mass-awakening of the collective consciousness decades in the making; a deposit of quartz found beneath New York revolting against the pressures of the city. There was nothing they could do to prevent the tumults and turmoil of the last 12 months, but, for those who listened, their predictions served as a sign of things to come — and how we might begin to prepare ourselves.
Besides, to gaze into the future and divine what might possibly happen (because even in divination there are no definite answers) is to seek out hope, a sense of stability, and understanding. And, after the year we’ve all had, we’d argue that everyone’s outlook could use a boost of optimism right now.
So, despite the fact that the unknown feels less, well, known than ever, we’re keeping our eyes on the horizon and actively looking forward to 2021. To get a better idea of what this year may hold in store, we checked in with six different astrologers, tarot readers, and psychics to get their thoughts on love, money, and more in the new year.
Read on to learn more about what our soothsaying experts had to say about the next 12 months.

On 2021’s overall vibe…
Cards drawn: Ace of Pentacles and Strength
“In 2021, the hope for a fresh start returns, especially in the realm of money and jobs. 2020 was rough for a lot of people, but this year there are opportunities to get back on track. The unemployment rate will improve as folks get back to work. New industries will emerge, as will innovative ways of doing business. For example, we may see more people continuing to work from home or going down the path of entrepreneurship…
“The Strength card reinforces the vibe that we’re getting on top again. People will see the light at the end of the tunnel in many arenas. Help is on the way. Despite the hardship we endured last year, we will emerge stronger than ever. We’ve had a chance to see how vulnerable we all really are. Now we know where to direct energy to fix the issues."

On love in 2021…
Card drawn: Knight of Wands
“This year, passion is in. As things begin to improve, folks are feeling lusty. Single folks are ready for romantic adventures. The second half of 2021 will be especially good for taking chances and flirty behavior. Most likely, it will be safer for getting out of the house — which could open up opportunities for real-life dating to resume. Those who are already in relationships may find new ways to spice up their love lives. After being cooped up together 24/7, they may be ready for fun! Those who are in troubled relationships will find the courage to get out and start over.”
On money in 2021…
Card drawn: Queen of Swords
“Although the economy will improve, we still need to be logical. That may mean taking prudent actions to shore up resources. I would advise folks to put money aside, consolidate bills, and pay down debts as much as you can. Ask for help if you’re having trouble catching up. Don’t be afraid to trim the fat in various areas of your life… 2021 will see better conditions, but this is not the time for risky behavior when it comes to your revenue. Keep it lean and you’ll come out ahead before the year comes to an end.”
On what we should watch out for…
Card drawn: Eight of Cups
“So many people are itching to travel after 2020’s lockdown. I would advise caution here. Even though 2021 is going to be better for that, it will take time before the travel industry has it together. If you’re going to hit the road, it may be best to do so via car instead of air travel. I would also say that large gatherings may still be an issue for part of the year. Solo adventures or smaller social functions may be wiser for a while.”
On what we can look forward to…
Card drawn: Six of Pentacles
“2021 is going to be excellent for taking care of the community. You might want to get involved in a good cause. Look for ways that you can give back to folks in need. Instead of asking ‘what’s in it for me,’ focus on what you can do to lift up the collective. Give where you can and be ready to lend a hand to your neighbors. One thing that we’ve learned last year is how much we need each other. This year, it’s time to give back, especially to those who have suffered so much.”

On what we should remember from 2020…
Card drawn: The Tower
“No matter how safe you think you are, the Universe can throw a wrench into things any time it wants. We learned that we are all vulnerable. Any one of us can fall through the cracks. It’s time to build better structures to support each other. That means shoring up our health care system, government response, and economy so that no one gets left behind. If we put effort into creating strong support systems, we will thrive no matter what.
“The other lesson is to count our blessings. Sometimes it takes an upheaval before we recognize what we have — and how interconnected we are. 2020 allowed us to see the problems but also the blessings. Let’s continue to be grateful for what we have — and for the people who’ve held us together during this turbulent time in history.”
Natalie Fowler, Psychic Medium
On 2021’s overall vibe…
“There is a major astrological conjunction happening on December 21, 2020… This conjunction is ushering in an energetic shift — that some are marking as the incoming age of Aquarius. Personally, I believe that this shift means that the power of manifestation will increase exponentially. That means that whatever energy you are pumping out to the universe is going to be what you get back. If you are working in a high vibration (which means staying positive and working for the good of others) that’s the energy you are going to attract and good things will be coming your way a lot easier than before. If you are following a more negative vibration (operating in a victim mentality or practicing pessimism) then that’s the energy you are going to draw in.
"In my lifetime, I have never seen people so excited to say 'goodbye' to a year and usher in a new one… That is going to make the incoming energy for 2021 absolutely amazing. We will be able to manifest whatever we want.”
—Natalie Fowler, Psychic Medium
“With all of that said, I have never seen so much excitement and anticipation that this year is finally coming to a close. In my lifetime, I have never seen people so excited to say “goodbye” to a year and usher in a new one. The collective energy on New Year’s Eve this year is going to be fantastic. The amount of hope and excitement that everyone around the world will be pumping out together at the same time, is going to be incredible. That is going to make the incoming energy for 2021 absolutely amazing. We will be able to manifest whatever we want.”

On love in 2021…
“People are going to start living with their eyes wide open. Hopefully, they will have gratitude and appreciation for the little things that they used to take for granted. Getting to go out on a date with someone live and in-person is going to have a whole new energy because of that gratitude and appreciation. It will allow people to be in the moment in a way they’ve never experienced before…
“But 2020 was also about figuring out the things that no longer serve us. When couples had to shut everything down and be alone in isolation together, it also allowed a light to shine on the things that maybe weren’t working so well. I have clients who suddenly realized they were in a relationship that wasn’t in their greatest good. Those people are now going to be able to find relationships that tap into a different level than before because of the self-awareness they’ve been able to find during 2020. They know more about what they are looking for, they’ve been able to better define what they deserve out of a love relationship, and as a result, that’s what can now come into their lives.”
On money in 2021…
“We don’t have control over what happens in the economy, so we have to do our best to surrender the worry we have about it. We do have control over our individual finances and spending choices… The power of manifestation is true here as well. If we are following our hearts and doing the work that we are passionate about, and working for the greatest and highest good of others, abundance and financial security will follow. If we are operating from a place of negativity with a lot of worry and fear, that’s the energy that is attracted. The more we surrender the worry and fear and take the risks associated with following our hearts to find our true passions, the more abundance will follow.”
On what we should watch out for…
“Because the power to manifest will be amplified, I think we need to avoid negative thinking as much as possible. If you find yourself down on life or thinking negative thoughts (which we all do every now and then as human beings), try to replace that one negative thought with three positive things. Instead of focusing on what you don’t have, be grateful for the food on your table, the clothes on your back and the roof over your head — anything positive.”
On what we can look forward to…
“It’s a beautiful time to declare hopes and dreams. This is a perfect time to set goals for the new year and beyond. Make lists of the things that you want to go for, write down your goals for the year. By writing these things down on paper, that gives them even more power to manifest and come true.”

On what we should remember from 2020…
“It sounds a little cliché, but it’s important to remember that life is happening ‘for’ us, not ‘to’ us. This last year has been one of survival. But it has also been an opportunity for a lot of people to reset their lives. By being forced to shut down, we now get to, very intentionally, decide what we add back in. We were allowed to see what was working and what wasn’t. It’s almost like the universe was knocking us upside the head to say, ‘Are you doing what you really want to be doing? Are you where you want to be?’ …Go do that thing that you’ve always wanted to do but never had the courage! Don’t wait for a pandemic to push you into it, life is too short. Be happy now.”
Felicia Bender, Practical Numerologist
On 2021’s overall vibe…
“The year 2021 is a 5 Universal Year. The 5 is the number of freedom, progressive action, sensuous experience, adventurous pursuits, connecting with others who are different than you — and being open and curious about forming an understanding of the differences as strengths rather than dividers. [5] brings a lot of frenetic energy with it. And so what does that bring to 2021? It’s going to be a roller coaster ride! Get ready for a lot of bright and shiny objects coming into play. Lots of new ideas. Lots of distractions. Lots of volatility. The 5 is a catalyst.
“Expect the unexpected in 2021 as we globally begin to find our focus as we recalibrate, reinvent, and rebuild virtually everything in our collective. This is a year where we’re challenged to dispose of outmoded ways of being and thinking and pursue serious, dramatic, and forward-thinking shifts. The 5 is always moving forward, never backward.
“The caveat? The 5 brings tests and challenges with those very themes. While we’re collectively starving for physical contact, travel, cultural activities, and other fun and social outlets, the year will continue to offer restrictions and feelings of being smothered, tethered, and stuck. The key will be in finding freedom of mind (lofty, I know!) and also finding pleasure where we can find it.”

On love in 2021…
“The 5 is the number of sex, sensuality, and it loves a good party! It’s also the number of escape, excess, and self-indulgence. I daresay, we are all starving for human contact after a year of isolation. So on one hand, yes, 2021 is set up as prime time for all things sensual! Sex, food, how things look and feel. Its energy supports enjoyment, pleasure, and diving into the experience.
“Obviously, the issue here resides in the ability for us to re-engage in ‘contact sports’ as we enter into 2021 where there are continuing lockdowns and continued mask-wearing, social distancing, and where all social venues are restricted… With that said, the desire for one-on-one relationships will be at a peak! The way in which these might manifest will need imagination and ingenuity.”
On money in 2021…
“The U.S. doesn’t have the kind of economic support systems in place that other countries are already employing. Many people have benefitted or remained stable during this time — those who already have online businesses, for example. Yet many are financially devastated and will be forced to retool in 2021.
“…With that said, necessity is the mother of invention and we are already seeing businesses pop up to meet new and current needs. We’re seeing a lot of creative problem-solving. The energy of the 5 supports this forward momentum and movement into the future… This is a year to crack open the mold that has been our global agreement with each other and devise new directions.”
On what we should watch out for…
“The 5 is great with ideas. In fact, the 5 is nothing if not a reservoir of ideas. The test comes with taking a good idea and following through with systematic steps and rigorous discipline to transform a happy idea into a sustainable reality. People should avoid ‘putting a ring on it,’ so to speak, in 2021. It’s a dynamic year of upheaval; not a time to really make a long-term commitment or put down roots.
“...The tendency this year might be a lack of discipline and order. Impulsiveness can lead to actions that we soon regret. We can choose to bypass the hard questions and attempt to flit along the surface, stirring up drama and putting up decoys that are meant to camouflage pressing and serious issues. In other words, getting derailed for short bursts or for longer periods of time is part of the picture for a 5 Universal Year.”

“The ‘personality’ of the 5 is that of an instigator and disruptor — with the higher purpose being to shed the old and move into a contemporary and inclusive new state of being. When the 5 shows up, it is a catalyst for change! Adaptability is mandatory. Solid direction is key. And unpredictability is virtually a money-back guarantee! It’s a year to actively expand into the unknown. 2021 is designed as a time to reshuffle the deck. It’s time to tap into an adventurous spirit and embrace uncertainty.”
On what we should remember from 2020…
“The highest expression of the energy of the 5 is to be open to new possibilities and have the fortitude to take a new direction with focused commitment and follow-through, if not a bit of personal sacrifice. The key to success will be lodged in our collective ability to focus and be productive in the midst of distractions and chaotic energies.
The ultimate lesson from 2020 can possibly be boiled down to: Nothing is certain. Everything is temporary. What’s next?”
Jamie Lynn, Psychic Medium and Astrologer
On 2021’s overall vibe…
“I sense that people will have more hope as we go into 2021. Positive changes will happen on a large scale. There will not be as much fear as we had in 2020. I sense a calming energy will blanket not only the U.S. but the world. I see changes for the better starting late February or March.
“...On December 21, 2020, Jupiter and Saturn aligned, forming a Grand Conjunction in the free-spirited air sign of Aquarius. 2021 will be the dawning of the Age of Aquarius. This is the first time that Saturn and Jupiter have aligned in Aquarius since 1623! 1623 was the year that the Mayflower landed in Plymouth, Massachusetts. Great things will happen! This combination will inspire rebellious and unconventional thinking. It will allow people to lean into their dreams. Jupiter and Saturn will promote social consciousness. The Jupiter and Saturn Grand Conjunction on December 21 will be 2020’s swan song that closes the book to a turbulent year. I see the circumstances and shift of 2020 bringing out more spiritual people. I see people being awakened. Souls evolve and we move forward. 2021 will be a year of new beginnings and lessons learned. 2021 will be a year of positive changes and great hope.”
On love in 2021…
“I sense that this will be a good year for people’s love lives. I sense that people will know what they want in love and go for it. People and couples will be happy to be able to do things that they once took for granted. I see a lot of people falling in love and being happy and dancing like no one is watching. I sense that people will not waste time anymore. Things will be held more sacred. I also see a lot of babies being born. I see couples happy, holding hands, and cherishing each other. I see unconditional love for people and smiling faces. People will ready to fall in love again in 2021.”
On money in 2021…
“I sense that the economy will start to get better around May or June of 2021. I see post-Covid-19 happening faster than anticipated. People will be big, bold, and expansive and this will stir up the economy for the better. Of course, it will not be fixed overnight, but I see us forging ahead without looking back. I see that people will rise above the limitations that were set forth in 2020… I see people working outside of their comfort zones. Like a phoenix, I see that people will rise from the ashes and follow their dreams. I see a lot of great things being created. More entrepreneurs…The workplace will restructure as we enter into a new cycle of destiny. I see people coming back strong and working hard to turn things around. I see a lot of new business and unique concepts being formed.”
On what we should watch out for…
“People should avoid getting into the same rat race that we have been trapped in for so many years. One of the positive things about 2020 is that it forced us to slow down. It forced people to stop and smell the roses… I feel that we were overdoing things on so many levels. We were so overindulgent, and our ability to have everything at our fingertips got pulled away in a blink of an eye. Covid-19 was a tragic event but created life lessons for all of us. I see people having balance in 2021. Working and going to school, but spending time with the people that they love. People need to avoid hanging onto the past. The old ways are gone. What worked before may not work again. We need to avoid being narrow-minded.
“Instead, we need to expand our minds and broaden our horizons. Going forward, we need to stop being negative and think positive. Try not to put up roadblocks. Look at things in a new light! Do not throw in the towel but keep going.”
"It will be a year where people think outside of the box. People will be more innovative and be more apt to do things outside of their comfort zone… It will be a great year to try or learn new age therapies and to be more spiritual."
—Jamie Lynn, Psychic Medium and Astrologer
On what we can look forward to…
“This pandemic and the events of 2020 caused a shift in all of us. 2021 will be a year where we appreciate things more. It will be a year where people think outside of the box. People will be more innovative and be more apt to do things outside of their comfort zone… It will be a great year to try or learn new age therapies and to be more spiritual. I see new ideas and great strides with technology. I see more space exploration. 2021 will be a lot lighter, easier, and harmonious.”
On what we should remember from 2020…
“The big lesson from 2020 is to not take people and things for granted… 2020 made us realize that we are not invincible, but that we can preserve and come together. We made vast changes in a short amount of time. Learning to adapt to the new normal so quickly was amazing.
“People need to pat themselves on the back! People came together. They did not let the circumstances of 2020 take away their spirit, their drive, and their will to preserve. 2020 will teach people to count their blessings. 2021 will make us enjoy the little things in life.”

“2021 is going to be a year of deeper spiritual and social connection. We are going to see more and more people waking up to individual spiritual practices. There will be a greater appreciation for nature and respect for Mother Earth. Pets and connections to animals in the wild will also become even more important in our lives. The trend for 2021 will be toward more authentic and personal experiences with the natural and spiritual worlds — shamanism and mediumship, for example — and waking up to one's own psychic abilities.”

Card drawn: Ace of Swords
“Words, ideas, and expression will be absolutely key for people who want to improve their relationships or invite new love into their lives. It's all in the mental attitude and the action that follows that mindset. People who are willing to embrace new ways of communicating and are not afraid of using technology will not only survive, but thrive in their love lives during this year. Words and ideas will become even more powerful, so expressing yourself through public forums like socials, blogs, videos, and podcasting will become a very prominent way for people to be ‘seen’ and connect to new people when our public interaction may be limited.
“Also, private communication like journaling will open up powerful self-knowledge and self-love, which are the very best foundations for relationships. Communicating on a regular basis with our loved ones will also deepen our connections, so finding new ways to interact will enrich our relationships.”
On money in 2021…

“It's going to be a really confusing year in terms of the economy. Some sectors of the economy will explode and others will be on hold. For individuals looking for where they should take their careers, their intuition is going to be a better guide than logic… There will be golden opportunities that will open up, but to see them, you will have to go with your gut feelings. It's hard to do that when you're afraid, so it will be really essential to have a meditation practice and find a stillness within so that you can hear that tiny voice that's guiding you where to go. That voice will let you know what choice to take when you're standing at a crossroads in terms of your livelihood or whether or not to take a risk on a new opportunity.”
On what we should watch out for…
Card drawn: Two of Pentacles
“Overextending yourself and trying to juggle too much at one time is probably not a good idea for any time but especially in 2021. There may be a temptation to take on extra work to make ends meet, bring in activities to keep us occupied, or multi-task because there is just so much that needs to get done. While some of that may be unavoidable, what this year is asking for is more mindfulness. Focusing on what you're doing, whether it's talking to someone over Zoom, cooking a meal, or organizing your desk drawers. As much as possible, try to be fully present for the person or the activity. Doing two things (or more) at once might be necessary at times, but carve out some time for real focused flow states. Don't pile on the to-do list or feel pressured to produce and perform all the time.”

“This can actually be a great year for new businesses and new careers. Entrepreneurial sorts will find opportunities showing up that almost feel like they are being handed to them. If you have been toying with the idea of going in a really different career direction, this can be a great year for a fresh start. New beginnings in terms of health will also open up. If you weren't able to focus on your body and treat it with kindness and love in 2020 (eating well and exercising, for example), there will be a new energy for you about optimizing your health.”

On what we should remember from 2020…
Card drawn: Eight of Wands
“We need to get into alignment, both within ourselves and in our communities… Alignment within ourselves is about knowing ourselves and our higher purpose and discovering how to live our lives in ways that support that. ...Instead of making a resolution, create a personal mission statement for the year. Ask yourself what gifts you bring to the world and then ask yourself how you can express those gifts even more this year. When you start working toward your own alignment, then bring that sense of purpose to your community. Ask yourself what one small thing you can do that can heal the wrongs in the world. As Malala Yousafzai so aptly put it, ‘One book, one pen, one child, and one teacher can change the world.’ Simple small things can have a huge impact, so don't wait for the time that you can do a big thing, just do the small things as often as possible.”
Amy Tripp, Astrologer
On 2021’s overall vibe…
“Due to a group of planets in Capricorn, particularly the conjunction between Jupiter, Saturn, and Pluto, 2020 was especially heavy. The mood in 2021 will be lighter as Jupiter and Saturn move out of earthy Capricorn and into airy Aquarius to make their Great Conjunction and usher us into a new era. This emphasis on Aquarian energy will likely manifest as a greater urge for change, novelty, innovation, and independence. This is much different than the restrictive, traditional, authoritative, and structured energy of Capricorn.
“Overall, there will be a freer vibe in 2021 than there was in 2020. Pluto is still in Capricorn, however, so the Capricorn energy isn’t completely gone. We will continue to see the upheaval and transformation of outdated structures, traditions that are no longer relevant, and around how power and authority are exercised. Pluto is still applying to conjunct America’s natal Pluto (exact in 2022) suggesting the destruction of the establishment and foundations that make up our institutions, along with those at the top who misuse their power, will continue to be a theme next year.”
On love in 2021…
“This year will be easier on people’s love lives than 2020. Last year both Venus and Mars stationed retrograde. Next year, Mars will not station retrograde and Venus will not station retrograde until mid-December. Venus and Mars transiting the same sign in July should bring sparks to your romantic life. Venus will conjunct Mars on July 11, heating up relationships and increasing the prospect of meeting someone new.”
On money in 2021…
“The Great Conjunction between Jupiter and Saturn is indicative of great cultural and sociopolitical shifts, which includes the economy. In 2021 I think we will see slow and steady economic growth (thanks to Jupiter conjunct Saturn). Uranus in Taurus, the sign of finances, signals there could be windfalls or dips that are unexpected, especially since it squares both Jupiter and Saturn. Uranus in Taurus also suggests the combination of money with technological advancements. Currencies such as Bitcoin will likely get more attention.”
On what we should watch out for…
“It’s important to play by the rules with Pluto in Capricorn. Use the power you are given wisely as you ambitiously climb to the top of your mountain. Power plays, difficulty relinquishing control, and underhanded tactics will backfire. Pluto in Capricorn is exposing the root of corruption, greed, and misuse of power collectively in our government structures and institutions, and also personally in the way we go about obtaining greater power and status.”
"The Great Conjunction between Jupiter and Saturn makes 2021 well-suited for leveling up in terms of your professional and social ambitions. This conjunction is a seed moment for new business ventures, new social roles, and laying the foundation for the restructuring of your life for the next 20 years."

It also supports innovations of all kinds, especially scientific and technological.”
On what we should remember from 2020…
“The importance of the individual in relation to the collective. As we move into 2021 and into what some are calling the Age of Aquarius, we have become much more aware of how one’s individual choices and behaviors can affect the community as a whole.”
