Just as I was starting to get the hang of online dating, a pandemic hits and matchmaking becomes harder than ever. Many dating apps now have the option to Facetime a stranger. Fun, huh? Don’t worry; no phones number are being exchanged; the “secured connection” is made through these brilliant apps.
When you are meeting someone new online, first impressions are crucial. And I want to help you look your best when that call says “Connecting.” This is a virtual date, so there is no need to go full glam unless you want to. But it doesn’t hurt to put a little more effort into your date even if it’s not in-person.
I am going to help you create an effortless makeup look for your quarantine date. I can't do this alone, so I tapped an expert. Alexx Mayo is a celebrity makeup artist, mostly known as the mastermind behind the vibrant and ever-changing looks seen on Lizzo.
Watch above as Alexx walks me through a step-by-step guide to create the perfect quarantine date night look using only four products. Then, read below for more details!
Urban Decay All Nighter Long-Lasting Makeup Setting Spray
When I saw Alexx pull out the Urban Decay All Night Setting Spray, I gasped. I can’t live without this makeup setting spray, and I knew we were already off to a good start. Alexx says, “People think you can use these afterward, but I like to even start makeup with it... kind of gives us like a primer effect.”
“What I love about it too is that when you finish, it just gives the skin this like nice glow and just makes you look refresh and done.”
Urban Decay Stay Naked Correcting Concealer
I was impressed with this concealer and even more impressed by Alexx’s technique on how to apply, which is with your fingers! He explains, “this right here is one of your best tools.”
Alexx recommends this correcting concealer because “the formula is so blendable, it looks so skin-like.” He adds, “I love the applicator kind of allows you to get into places like around the nose.”
To get that flawless concealed look, Alexx recommends, “use a pressing motion and kind of roll it up and out; the key is to really tap the product into the skin.”
Urban Decay Brow Beater Microfine Brow Pencil & Brush
Does anyone else panic when it’s time to do their own eyebrows? Or is that just me? Luckily, I had Alexx guiding me through the process, and I must say this pencil and brush combo helped ease my nerves. It was super simple to use, and Alexx suggests using the pencil side first before moving to the brush.
Pro tip from Alexx: “Right at the head of the brow, you want to use very light pressure and follow the directions of the hairs.” Also, if you want that micro-blading effect, use the brush end of the stick and lightly do feather-like strokes.
Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil
This is a goodie! If you want an eye pencil that’s waterproof and doesn’t smudge, this is it. Take it from Alexx, who reveals that he uses this product on Lizzo!
“I use them for every sort of eye look. I use this all the time on Lizzo. This has been the only pencil that stays in place, I don't have to worry about it,” says Alexx.
Friends, look at that beautiful, effortless makeup! You should be set for your next quarantine date. Now go, get ready, and look fabulous!
