Queen Elizabeth Sends Thank-You Notes to Fans Who Wished Her a Happy 93rd Birthday
It's hardly a surprise that the Queen of the United Kingdom has her etiquette down pat-but every time she sends a thank-you note to her well-wishers, it's still a joy for royal watchers.
After she celebrated her 93rd birthday in April-and receiving a flood of "happy birthday" mail-Queen Elizabeth sent kind replies to her many fans. Now, the Queen's letters are beginning to reach mailboxes.
Thanks to the blog Gert's Royal Replies, even those who didn't take the time to wish the Queen a happy birthday can enjoy the response she sent. As her birthday happened to fall on Easter this year, the Queen's note also thanks those who wished or a happy Easter-and the hard-core fans who wished her both.
"The Queen thanks you for the message you sent for Easter and on the occasion of Her Majesty's ninety-third birthday," it reads. " The Queen is most grateful for your kind words and your thoughtfulness in writing as you did at this time." The note doesn't have a signature, but is dated "2019" at the bottom.
Coincidentally, the note arrived just after the Queen celebrated her birthday for a second time, at the annual Trooping the Colour parade. Following a tradition that dates back to King George II in 1748, the royals celebrate the monarch's birthday publicly in the summer. This is done to ensure more ideal weather for the event-a very logical, and very British reason.
This year, the Queen looked happy as ever as she waved to her fans from the Buckingham Palace balcony.
