Queen Elizabeth's Cousin Lady Gabriella Windsor Releases Her First Single
Several members of the British royal family have hidden talents. The Duchess of Cambridge is a skilled photographer, while the Duchess of Sussex is known to love calligraphy. For his part, Prince Charles plays the cello.
This week, Lady Gabriella Windsor, the daughter of Prince and Princess Michael of Kent and Queen Elizabeth's first cousin once removed, chose to share her particular talent with the world. She is a singer-songwriter, who just released her first song on Spotify and iTunes to help raise money for the Playing For Change Foundation, a music-centric non-profit organization.
Windsor, who uses the nickname "Ella" in her music career, worked with producer Enzo Buono and musicians in Los Angeles on the track titled "Out of Blue." (Listen here.)
Per Hello, which broke the story, the song was influenced by "the Brazilian bossa nova genre."
"I've always loved music, but never imagined I would become involved with it like this – releasing my own songs," Windsor told the publication. "It's a little daunting, but exciting too," she said.
Windsor also revealed that she first debuted "Out of Blue" at her London wedding reception in May 2019.
"Throughout the evening a few of us hopped up on stage to sing with the band," she told Hello. "It was late and I'm not sure I sounded my best but one of the singers added some backing, so I hope that made it better. It was a day of so many nerve-racking moments that I thought: 'I might as well throw this in, too!'"
