Queen Maxima of the Netherlands Repurposes Dress by Favorite Designer for Her Latest Royal Engagement
Queen Maxima of the Netherlands made a royal appearance at the opening of the new headquarters of DSM-Firmenich in Maastricht, Netherlands, on Thursday. The royal opted to repurpose a look she’s worn in the past, one by a favorite designer of the queen.
For the special occasion, Queen Maxima fashioned a long-sleeve frock courtesy of Belgian fashion label Natan. The white midi dress featured intricate white and green detailing across the fabric and subtle bell sleeves.

A green belt accentuated the waistline of the dress, adding an extra pop of color. Queen Maxima paired the dress with a green hat that complemented the look, statement earrings and wore a pair of neutral-toned shoes to complete her ensemble.
This isn’t the first time Queen Maxima has fashioned this particular dress and hat combination. During her tour of Indonesia with husband King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands, Queen Maxima wore this exact look with a set of pearl jewels to meet Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono X and his wife Gusti Kangjeng Ratu Hemas during a visit at Kraton Yogyakarta Palace in March 2020.
Queen Maxima has long fashioned pieces by Natan. In fact, she wore another look by the Belgian fashion label when she attended the five-year anniversary of Codam Coding College in Amsterdam on Wednesday. The whimsical frock featured a dusty rose hue, ruffled detailing and flowing long sleeves. She paired the look with a Maison Fabienne Delvigne fascinator with a floral embellishment.
Queen Maxima joins another notable royal who often repurposes some of her favorite statement dresses in her royal wardrobe. Queen Camilla has been a long-time proponent of rewearing certain dresses for daytime events. She recently repurposed a blue Fiona Clare midi dress for a visit to the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art with King Charles III on Wednesday.
Whether Queen Maxima repurposes a favorite dress by a particular designer or opts for a new look entirely, her effervescent style tends to stand out among contemporary European royals for its playful use of color, patterns and whimsy.
