Queer Dance Party Protest Targets Ivanka Trump’s House, Roils Neighbors
A rowdy group of more than 300 revelers marched on Ivanka Trump’s Washington, D.C., home last night to protest the rollback of Obama-era environmental laws by President Trump. Only one problem: The first daughter was quite possibly not at home.
Ivanka Trump was spotted in New York this weekend. A post on Instagram from her account yesterday appears to have been taken in NYC.
In it, she’s celebrating the birthday of one of her three children. “Theodore caught contemplating if he’ll be able to eat his body weight in birthday cake,” writes Trump. What looks like Central Park and some skyscrapers can been seen in a window behind her.

Meanwhile in D.C., protesters took to the streets of Kalorama, the upper-crust suburban neighborhood of the capitol’s elite, beginning around 6 p.m.
“The entire Trump Administration has shown a blatant disregard for our planet and it’s [sic] inhabitants, like paving the way for the Dakota Access Pipeline displacing the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe,” reads a description for the event on Facebook. “We must put our bodies on the line for our earth and for all who depend on its resources.”
The protesters danced on top of cars to the tune of Queen’s “We Will Rock You,” while representatives of the Sierra Club environmental organization and the TransWomen of Color Collective gave speeches.

Neighbors were not thrilled by the loud music and procession of revelers down their streets. One 82-year-old resident hurled obscenities and physical threats at one man in an exchange caught on video by Ashley Rae Goldberg of the website MRCTV. “You wanna get your f***ing face hit?” he asks after one protester told him, “No need to be rude.”

Having members of first families work closely together in the White House is not a new phenomenon. John F. Kennedy appointed his brother, Robert, to be attorney general during his administration. And in the Clinton administration, Bill asked Hillary to lead a health-care task force.
