The more we learn about Kate Middleton's current condition, the more questions arise—much to the chagrin, we're sure, of the royal family.
Following her hospital admission on Tuesday, Jan. 16, which was reportedly for a pre-planned abdominal surgery, Kensington Palace announced that she'd be privately recovering through the Easter holidays, keeping all Royal engagements on hold through that time.
Fans naturally had questions about her complete media blackout, leading to both genuine questions of concern and fantastical conspiracy theories about the "missing" princess. On March 4, the princess was reportedly captured in a grainy paparazzi photo, while on March 5, her first post-surgery engagement was announced for June—both leading to further questions due to the quality of the snapshot and the lengthy time between her reported completion of recovery and her return to work.
But the very next day, the announcement of the Princess of Wales' review of Trooping the Colours had been removed from the website, where tickets to the military parade had been advertised alongside a photo of Middleton, according to TIME. As Colonel of the Irish Guard, the princess was expected to attend, but the publication reports that Kensington Palace had not confirmed the event, leading to the confusion.
Naturally, fans are thirstier than ever for answers, with one writing on Twitter that "it’s just getting more and more peculiar at this point."
Another said that the "situation is getting out of hand," jokingly demanding her youngest son, Prince Louis, "spill the tea."
So far, no further word from Kensington Palace or Middleton—which makes sense, given how adamant they've been about remaining mum about the situation. "Kensington Palace made it clear in January the timelines of the princess’ recovery and we’d only be providing significant updates," Middleton's rep said recently. "That guidance stands.”
