R.I.P. Donuts. Dunkin' Is Officially Changing Its Name
Everyone’s favorite coffee chain is having an identity crisis.
Beginning in January 2019, Dunkin’ Donuts will no longer respond to its two-part name. The company recently announced that it will be dropping the “Donuts” to be known simply as Dunkin’.
Why the desire for a rebrand? In a statement made earlier today at its Global Franchisee Convention, the president and CEO noted that the new branding “conveys the company’s focus on serving great coffee fast, while embracing Dunkin’s heritage by retaining its familiar pink and orange colors and iconic font, introduced in 1973.”
He went on to explain that “by simplifying and modernizing our name…we have an opportunity to create an incredible new energy for Dunkin’, both in and outside our stores.” New energy, eh?
We know what you’re thinking…but what about the doughnuts?!?! Never fear, Dunkin’ will still prioritize the production of their signature sweet treats, regardless of the name change. After all, they are the No. 1 doughnut retailer in America.
As the cool kids say, meet us at Dunkin’?
