'Real Housewives' Alum Kim Zolciak Files for Divorce From Husband of 11 Years
The Real Housewives of Atlanta's Kim Zolciak-Biermann has filed for divorce from her husband of 11 years, former NFL player Kroy Biermann.
In court documents obtained by TMZ, the reality TV star listed April 30 as the former couple's date of separation and cited an "irretrievably broken" marriage "with no hope of reconciliation" as grounds for the divorce.
The estranged couple began dating in 2010 and married in 2011; Bravo documented the ceremony for its 2012 spinoff of the Real Housewives of Atlanta, Don’t Be Tardy. The show ran for eight seasons before it was canceled in May 2021.
According to the official paperwork, Zolciak has asked the court for primary physical custody and joint legal custody of her and Biermann's four children: sons Kroy “KJ” Jr., 11, and Kash, 10, and twins Kaia and Kane, 9. Biermann, 37, also adopted Zolciak's two daughters from previous relationships: Brielle, 26, and Ariana, 21.
The 44-year-old former Real Housewife has also filed for spousal support and to legally restore her maiden name (dropping the -Biermann).
This is just the latest in tough news surrounding the Bravolebrity, who spent a decade starring in The Real Housewives of Atlanta before departing the series full-time in 2018.
In February, US Magazine confirmed the two's Georgia mansion had been sent to auction after being foreclosed upon. Earlier on May 8, TMZ also reported that Zolciak and her estranged husband owe the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) over $1 million in unpaid taxes, in addition to the $15,000 the two allegedly owe to the state of Georgia.
This is the second divorce for Zolciak, who was previously married to Daniel Toce for two years up until 2003, and the first for the former Atlanta Falcons linebacker.
