In the last month, Kanye West has been very public about his ongoing conflicts with ex, Kim Kardashian, as the two work out the details of their divorce and custody arrangement. A source told US Weekly that West feels compelled to start drama as a way of keeping control of the situation.

“He likes being in control and having that power,” the source said, adding that the music and fashion artist is “feeling powerless” as Kardashian moves on and seems ready to severe ties completely.

Kardashian filed for divorce in February of 2021 and things were relatively quiet until the fall of that year, when West started making lots of declarations to his ex about wanting a reconciliation. His tone has changed since Kardashian's relationship with comedian Pete Davidson has seemingly become more serious.

The former couple share four children, North, 8, Saint, 6, Chicago, 4, and Psalm, 2. West has most recently been complaining about Kardashian's shared TikTok account with North, bashing his ex for allowing their daughter to have a social media platform at a young age.

The insider told US Weekly “that’s where he feels he’s heard the most.”

On Friday, February 4, he shared a screenshot of one of North's TikToks, writing, “SINCE THIS IS MY FIRST DIVORCE I NEED TO KNOW WHAT I SHOULD DO ABOUT MY DAUGHTER BEING PUT ON TIK TOK AGAINST MY WILL?”

“Kanye is putting divorce matters to the back burner,” the source continued. “He didn’t choose divorce and isn’t liking that Kim is basically ‘winning’ so far when it comes to the kids [and] the home.”

They added that West's comments make Kardashian “look like a bad person, but it’s not intentional,” and West is “just trying to win power back.”

Kardashian, who has mostly not made public comments about West's outbursts and accusations, released a statement on her Instagram Story in response.

“Kanye’s constant attacks on me in interviews and on social media is actually more hurtful than any TikTok North might create,” she wrote. “As the parent who is the main provider and caregiver for our children, I am doing my best to protect our daughter while also allowing her to express her creativity in the medium that she wishes with adult supervision — because it brings her happiness.”

She added, “Divorce is difficult enough on our children and Kanye’s obsession with trying to control and manipulate our situation so negatively and publicly is only causing further pain for all.”
