The Reason Jennifer Aniston Skipped the Oscars This Year
You know what day it is? It’s Oscars Sunday, which means that literally all your favorite celebrities have gathered at the Dolby Theatre to celebrate the movies. You might be asking yourself: Hello, it is a major Hollywood red carpet, so WHERE is Jennifer Aniston?
Short and easy answer: She isn’t at the ceremony because she wasn’t nominated this year. Typically, you’re invited to the Oscars only if you’re a nominee yourself or you were part of making a movie that was nominated. Jennifer wasn’t in any of the nominated movies this year, so therefore, she is not present. The only reason she would have gone anyway would be if she were getting an honorary award, presenting an award to someone else, or the guest of someone who was invited.
This is absolutely no shade to Jen, who is a national treasure, but she technically has never been nominated for an Oscar before. I know, I know! It’s a wrong that should be righted immediately. In fairness, she’s known for her work in television and the Oscars don’t give awards for television.
But Jen is one of those people who, when an awards show rolls around, fans just *assume* will be there. That’s fair considering she’s basically a red carpet staple and we look forward to seeing her literally anywhere and everywhere, but I guess we’re out of luck this year, unfortunately. Hopefully next time!
