Reba Nearly Breaks the Internet Singing 'Respect' With Jennifer Hudson
The singers gave fans a real treat during Hudson's morning talk show.
Reba McEntire and Jennifer Hudson did not hold back during their impromptu duet.
During an appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show, the "Does He Love You" singer, 68, recalled covering Aretha Franklin's "Respect" in 1980, leading her to sing the song on the show.
But before she jumped into the spontaneous performance, she told the story of when she first met the late singer, who died in 2018.
"I got to meet her, she scared me to death, I wouldn't even go up and talk to her," Reba recalled. "I got to meet her in Washington D.C. at Christmas in Washington, and she's just amazing."
Hudson, 41–who actually portrayed Franklin in Respect, a biopic of the singer's life–went on to ask Reba if she'd like to sing a little bit of the song, to which she eagerly responded, "oh, yeah!"

The crowd cheered as the two singers grabbed microphones and jumped into the song. Both singers traded lyrics back and forth while sitting on the couch before Reba pointed to Hudson to sing the following verse in the song.
Hudson and Reba jumped up to sing more of the song before the host announced that the crowd would get tickets to see Reba in concert at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, California.
The moment was extraordinarily special for Hudson as she revealed her mother was a big supporter of Reba's. "My mom was a huge fan of yours, she loved you so much," Hudson said before Reba responded, "aw, that makes my heart feel good."
"So it means everything to have you here," Hudson confessed.
