Rebel Wilson has a very specific explanation for why she believes Adele “hates” her, though the actress has admitted she hasn’t actually asked if her theory—or the feeling of hate itself—is true.
Wilson, 44, mentioned her speculation about the “Rolling in the Deep” singer in her new memoir, Rebel Rising. The book is due out on April 2.
In an excerpt of the memoir obtained by Us Weekly, the Australian actress wrote that other actresses “would get offended if I called them plus-size” in her book and that she thus needed to be “careful with what I say.”

“This is why, I think, Adele hates me,” the excerpt continued. The Pitch Perfect star went on to explain that she and Adele, 35, have in the past been compared to each other as a result of their weight, with some fans even confusing the two women. Wilson alleged that the 16-time Grammy Award-winning singer has avoided her at public events, “As if my fatness might rub off on her if I were near her for more than thirty seconds.”
However, Wilson noted in the excerpt that she had “never asked” the "Someone Like You" singer if the alleged hatred was real.
While promoting her new book, the Bridesmaids actress has spoken out about the kinds of roles she has over the years been encouraged to embrace. During a recent appearance on CBS News Sunday Morning, Wilson said her agents “were against” the idea of her trying to lose weight.
“They thought, ‘Well you’ve got such a pigeonhole, but it’s such a valuable pigeonhole, being the fat, funny girl, so we don’t really want you to lose that,’” Wilson recalled during the interview.
Despite the pressure to stay within her “pigeonhole,” Wilson recently revealed that she has in the past tested out Ozempic, a controversial drug that many celebrities have used for weight loss. Though the actress said she no longer uses Ozempic, she told The Sunday Times that she thinks those kinds of drugs “can be good.”
