With partners Spanish mill Evlox and finishing technology firm Jeanologia, the project aims to improve circularity in the denim industry with products that bring eco-design, transparency, process measurement, traceability and scalability. Made from Recover recycled cotton fiber and Spanish cotton, the fabrics in the Reiconics collection are CRS certified and pays homage to traditional, classic denim.
The range includes the 14 pieces to be exhibited at Premiere Vision Denim, all fabricated from denim developed by Evlox. There is a variety of finishes in the collection generated by Jeanologia technology, that reduce water and energy consumption and eliminate toxic emissions and discharge. A single Reiconics jacket uses 32 percent Recover recycled fiber, and Jeanologia saves up to 240 liters of water, compared with a jacket made with virgin cotton and treated with traditional finishing methods.
Alfredo Ferre, Recover CEO, said he is pleased to be part of an innovative project like Reiconics. “Recover is proud to be part of the Reiconics collection, a groundbreaking project that will pave the way toward a more sustainable future,” he said. “Together we are offering brands a pathway to reducing their environmental impact caused by raw material production and waste.”
Recover is fourth-generation, family-owned materials science company that produces premium environmentally friendly cotton fiber and cotton fiber blends in partnership with global retailers and brands. Goldman Sachs and Story3 Capital recently invested.
Evlox has been making denim since 1846 and is a leader in the sector. Its partner, Jeanologia, aims to create an ethical sustainable and eco-efficient textile industry and collaborates closely with brands and retailers as they move toward eco-friendly practices and sustainability. Known for disruptive technology and innovative software, its groundbreaking developments include laser technology, G2 ozone, Dancing Box, e-flow and H2Zero, which have revolutionized the textile industry. At ITMA in June, with Zara owner Inditex, it launched the Air Fiber washer to remove microfibers from fabrics before home laundering that otherwise releases microfibers into the environment. Jeanologia has a U.S. outpost in Miami’s hip Wynwood neighborhood.
Enrique Silla, Jeanologia CEO, noted how the partnership redefines the future of blue jeans. “AT Jealologia we are proud to work with Recover and Evlox as partners to redefine the future of Blue jeans,” he said. “Reiconics Collection creates an inflection point where technology, innovation, creativity, circularity and sustainability are key to success.”
