How to Make Red-Wine Hot Chocolate

Updated

Red wine and chocolate go together like Netflix goes with chill. So why not combine the two into one decadent treat?

Say hello to red wine hot chocolate. We first got the idea from the food blog Yeah…Immaeatthat, and now we’re pretty pumped to make it all winter long. It’s rich and delicious and it calls for just a few simple ingredients.

Here’s how to make red wine hot chocolate:

Combine 1½ cups milk (we suggest 2%) and ⅓ cup dark chocolate chips in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir until the mixture is fully incorporated, thick and creamy. Add 1 cup red wine (something full-bodied like Cabernet Sauvignon) and continue stirring.

Remove from the heat, pour into mugs and garnish with marshmallows or whipped cream.

Curl up next to the fire in your favorite comfy sweater and enjoy your basically perfect evening.
