Love is still in the air for the Pioneer Woman—Ree Drummond and her husband, Ladd! The couple recently celebrated their 28th anniversary, and Drummond couldn’t help but share cute nostalgic photos of their life as husband and wife.

“Ladd and I just celebrated our 28th anniversary over the weekend,” Drummond wrote in a new blog post. “If you make it to the last photo here, you'll see a couple of people who are, yes, slightly exhausted, but so grateful we found each other almost three decades ago. Hope you enjoy the back story behind them, and the various shades of red my hair has been. How is it possible we've been married 28 years when we're only 32 years old? Such a mystery!”

Drummond has found a love that lasts in her husband, Ladd. The pair were married on September 21, 1996, in an Episcopal church in Drummond’s hometown in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.

It was a day to remember. Drummond recalls two things that stood out from that night. The first was that her brother Mike got up on stage and belted Elvira, and the second was that Arizona State (Ladd’s alma mater) beat Nebraska, two-time defending champs at the time.

“When I look at those two kids kneeling at the altar of the Episcopal church of my youth, I can't believe how little (relatively speaking!) we knew about each other,” Drummond reflects. “Marriage is such a leap of faith!”

She wore a classic white dress, while Ladd traded his jeans for a black tuxedo but kept the cowboy boots. Drummond added that her waist was smaller. Ladd had a full head of hair and both she and her sister Betsy (the maid of honor) had thinner eyebrows, which was the trend in the late 90s.

Drummond still cherishes her wedding dress and received a special new gift for the occasion.  “Ladd gifted me the pearls right before we walked down the aisle! His mom brought them to me in the dressing room and I cherish 'em,” she gushed in the post.

The couple have shared milestones over the years

After they tied the knot, Drummond and Ladd jet-setted to Australia for their honeymoon. Drummond was wearing a wrap dress, and Ladd had salt-and-pepper hair that Drummond described as “George Clooney in E.R.” “I think I got pregnant the night this photo was taken, (Not kidding.),” Drummond joked.

She also shared an image taken during the first season of filming her Food Network show. The photo shows Ladd hauling her over his shoulders in an attempt to be romantic and you can see how much they love each other.

In addition to her Food Network success, Drummond and Ladd also have five kids (three boys and two girls) together and several furry friends to round out their family.

Vail, Colorado, is the couple’s most frequent vacation spot

Drummond shared that, aside from their honeymoon, she and Ladd haven’t had many chances to travel internationally. In a couple of other anniversary memories, she shares photos from their vacations, favorite hobbies and life’s simple joys.

“Vail, Colorado, has been our happy place, our family vacation spot, and the place where I am most able to breathe and reset when life gets to be too crazy,” she wrote I love it there, and as you can see from the relaxed look on Ladd's face, so does he!”

Drummond hopes to celebrate many more years together

The last photo the Pioneer Woman shared was a recent one of her and Ladd outside on the ranch where they were sorting cattle. She said if you can make it through sorting cattle, you can make it through anything.

“After 28 years, we've raised children, lost parents, navigated many changes in our work, and been through many, many ups and downs,” she wrote. “Goodness gracious, it's been an adventure and I can't imagine if we'd never met. I can't begin to imagine what the next 28 years will bring, but God willing, we'll get to watch it unfold together!”
