Ree Drummond Provides Health Update After Losing 50 Pounds
Ree Drummond
Ree Drummond is celebrating the progress of her health journey.
The Pioneer Woman began to dedicate herself to a better lifestyle in January 2021. Nearly three years later, Drummond has shed over 50 pounds. In a new interview with TODAY.com, the Food Network star gave insight into what's helped her lose weight—and keep it off—throughout the past couple of years.
"The biggest takeaway, which I don't always adhere to, is trying not to waste calories. I could eat a plate of delicious food with different elements and colors and flavor, or I could eat a donut," she said. "Sometimes, it's the donut. But it's just a good thing to have in mind."
Drummond also told the outlet that instead of trying fad diets, buying sugar-free treats, or doing intermittent fasting, she went a simpler route, favoring adding more protein and vegetables to her diet, as well as cutting down alcohol and monitoring how much sugar she was consuming.
She also took up rowing, purchasing a rowing machine of her own. "I'm an impatient home exerciser, so the rowing machine was probably my favorite," she noted. However, the lifestyle guru is currently not using it as frequently as before, candidly revealing, "Right now, the rowing machine is a clothes rack."
The TV personality shared that while keeping up her weight loss progress, she hasn't been denying herself the pleasure of eating the foods she loves—especially during the holidays. Instead, she's learned to enjoy them in moderation.
"I think what I've done over the past two years is knowing that I don't want to push things away or say no to foods. I upped my movement a bit. I take a couple extra walks with the dogs each week. I make sure to get on the rowing machine at least once a day, especially through November and December," she explained.
Earlier this week, Drummond released her latest book, The Pioneer Woman Cooks―Dinner's Ready!: 112 Fast and Fabulous Recipes for Slightly Impatient Home Cooks. It teaches fans how to make quick, simple, and delicious recipes at home, from comforting favorites to more health-conscious options.
