A green smoothie approved by Reese Witherspoon, Kerry Washington, and celebrity nutritionist Kimberly Snyder is one definitely worth trying. And lucky for us, Witherspoon shared the version she drinks for breakfast on Instagram.

She recorded all the steps in an IGTV video. “This is the smoothie I drink every single day and I have probably for like, eight years, nine years? I don’t even know,” she said. “But it has a lot of vegetables in it, so I have this instead of breakfast. I have it around 10 or 11:00 and I’m not hungry at all until 1:00.”

Witherspoon said she learned about the smoothie from her Little Fires Everywhere co-star Kerry Washington, long before they worked together. “I sat next to her at an award show and I didn’t really know her but I was like, ‘Your skin is so beautiful. What do you do?’ Witherspoon said in the video. “And she said, ‘Actually, I think it’s from this drink … it has really changed my skin, it makes my hair and nails really strong.’ And so I was in.”

In the caption of her video, Witherspoon noted that the recipe is also inspired by Snyder, who shares lots of different smoothie recipes on her feed. “For a single serving Glowing Green Smoothie (GGS) try the simple formula of 2 greens (one dark like kale, chard, spinach, one more watery/lighter green like cucumber or celery), lemon, and 1-2 pieces of fruit,” Snyder wrote on Instagram. Seems pretty simple, right? Without further ado, here’s Witherspoon’s breakdown.

She adds two heads of romaine lettuce and ? cup of spinach to a blender.

You can also add celery if you have it. “It’s almost like you can put anything green in the refrigerator,” Witherspoon said. (Note: this recipe makes two servings. So if it seems like a lot, it’s because it is. “I leave it in the fridge and I don’t have to make it tomorrow,” she explained.)

Next, she chops a whole banana, apple, pear, and lemon and tosses them in.

“It has to have something sweet, otherwise it’s too bitter,” the actress said. She removes the rind from the lemon, but includes the peel on everything else. “I put the whole thing in there,” she added. “All that fiber is really good for you.”

To blend, she finishes with ? cup of coconut water, and dancing!

She kept the ingredients simple for her video, but noted that add-ins are welcome.“You can add protein powder to it, you can add almond butter, flaxseeds,” she said. Then, while waiting for the smoothie to blend, she broke out the secret ingredient: a fully committed morning dance break because, why not?

And that’s it! “I know it looks like it tastes gross but it tastes so good,” she said, taking a sip. Now it’s your turn to try!
