Reese Witherspoon to Star in Two New Rom-Coms on Netflix
As the rest of the world slows down because of the social distancing required during the coronavirus pandemic, Reese Witherspoon is keeping busy.
In addition to broadcasting conversations with her friends on her Instagram account, overseeing her lifestyle brand, Draper James, and sharing the latest title in her book club (it's The Henna Artist by Alka Joshi), it was recently announced that Witherspoon will star in and produce two new romantic comedies for Netflix.
Here's what we know about the films so far:
The first is called Your Place Or Mine.
A partnership between Witherspoon's media company, Hello Sunshine, and Aggregate Films, which was founded by Jason Bateman, the rom-com will focus "on two long-distance best friends who change each other’s lives when she decides to pursue a lifelong dream and he volunteers to keep an eye on her teenage son."
Aline Brosh McKenna, who wrote script for The Devil Wears Prada, will direct.
The second is an adaptation of Sarah Haywood's novel The Cactus.
Witherspoon is clearly a fan of the story, having previously made it a book club pick. "This title is a perfect metaphor for Susan who is a single, regimented woman faced with an unexpected pregnancy just as she navigates a difficult family inheritance issue at the same time," she said, describing the text in June 2019. "I found myself laughing out loud at Susan’s prickly character as she finds herself in a love triangle, navigating family ties and dealing with 9 months of pregnancy at the age of 45."
She'll produce the film alongside Lauren Neustadter, who serves as the head of TV and film for Hello Sunshine, Witherspoon's media company.
