Reese Witherspoon uses this $10 Oxo angled measuring cup, and so should you
The Oxo Good Grips Angled Measuring Cup has slanted markings inside so you can measure everything from overhead.
Who doesn't love Reese Witherspoon? She's got an infectiously bubbly personality, impeccable comedic timing and stars in some of Instagram's most amusing cooking videos. (Yes, really!) As a former professional baker who tests kitchen products for a living, the latter excites me because it means I get a little peek inside her kitchen — and who among us isn't curious about the cooking tools celebs reach for? The usual (pricey) suspects all make appearances on her counter: KitchenAid, Boos Block ... but it was one $10 item that really caught my eye — the absurdly clever Oxo Good Grips Angled Measuring Cup.
How's this for a new slant on things — measurement markings that can be read from above!
- Angled design allows for reading measurements overhead
- Soft-grip handle
- Made of plastic, so less heat-resistant than glass
- Markings can eventually wear away with dishwasher use
In a recent video (during which Reese makes an orange chicken dish using the leftover ingredients in her fridge), the actress can be seen pouring orange juice, honey, soy sauce and rice vinegar into the Oxo measuring cup — but if you watch, you'll notice she's not lifting it up to eye level or crouching down to read the measurements. That's because this cup, unlike your standard-issue models, has an ingenious slanted measuring guide inside, allowing you to track your pouring from above and without strain. Yeah, we're wondering how we've lived so long without this, too.
And if you thought that was this measuring cup's only cool feature, guess again. It has a soft, nonslip handle for better grip and more confident pouring, even when your hands are slicked with olive oil. You'll be able to measure in cups, ounces and milliliters, and it comes in 1-cup, 2-cup and 4-cup capacities.
Over 2,400 Amazon customers have the Oxo Good Grips Angled Measurement Cup in their kitchens ... where it's found a place in their hearts too.
"Super easy to use" wrote one five-star reviewer. "Great for both dry and wet measuring. Easy to read from above. ... Feels sturdy and doesn't feel like it's going to break."
"[The] ergonomic design is helpful," said another. "Lightweight and easy to use. Even has a thumb rest for the hand."
"The markings are clear and easy to read, both inside and outside the cup," shared a third. "I like the shape — I can mix ingredients in the cup and the spout end allows for accurate pouring. I like the black padding on the handle. It eventually degrades and starts to slip off, but I will get years of use out [of] these utensils. And, if I drop it, it won't shatter like a glass cup. I've never had one crack or crinkle, either — the material is good quality."
Several reviewers echoed this buyer's sentiments. "I only wish that they came in glass," they said. "I would not put this in the dishwasher, as I feel the outside markings will come off pretty quickly."
"[My] only complaint is it can eventually start to crack if used for hot liquids over a long time," explained a final fan. "I would avoid heavy microwave use if possible. But for the usual tasks it is designed for, it definitely excels."
"Whoever said angled measuring cups are the new kitchen must-haves ... was seriously correct." —Elle Woods*

Another smart, celeb-approved kitchen tool? The chainmail scrubber Jennifer Garner uses to clean her cast iron pans.
Like Jen, thousands of Amazon shoppers use this nifty doodad to buff away caked-on cast iron messes. It's made up of small stainless steel rings that won't get rusty, and you can use it on stainless steel and aluminum cookware as well.
"I’m a chef and take good care of my cast iron pans," shared a user. "When I first saw this product, I was intrigued. I purchased one, and it is a staple in my home. I’ve bragged about how well it works to many people. The rounded chainmail removes all the debris without gouging the seasoning on the pan or scratching the surface. If it gets gunked up with debris, I just run it through the dishwasher."
