Once upon a time, there was a delicious tale of a treat that rocked taste buds. It was 2007 when the suspicious minds at the Hershey Company decided to pay homage to none other than the King, Elvis Presley, and his favorite sandwich, the peanut butter and banana. Thus, 30 years after the musician and actor's death in 1977, Reese's Peanut Butter & Banana Creme Cups were born.

With a hunk-a-hunk of chocolate love, the collector edition ridged cups hit grocery store shelves like a sensation sweeping across Graceland. Each bite was a mesmerizing melody of flavors — a smooth dance of banana creme filling embraced by subtly gritty peanut butter and milk chocolate as delicate as a pair of blue suede shoes. It was an edible serenade and consumers were all shook up with delight. Elvis, the man who couldn't help falling in love with the medley of peanut butter and banana, likely would've probably curled his lip in approval. The confectionery wizards had truly created a wonder, and the short-lived status just made it all the more tantalizing. As a fun bonus, one lucky buyer even had the chance to win a 1957 Cadillac.

The PB&B cups made a grand entrance but, much like Elvis himself, they left the stage too soon. Mere months after their grand introduction, Reese's Peanut Butter & Banana Creme Cups quietly exited the market, seemingly leaving candy aisles a little less thrilling.

Despite their short lives on shelves, these heavenly bites didn't leave the hearts of enthusiasts. In an attempt to resurrect the icon (the candy, that is), a petition began to circulate online, asking the brand to bring back the Elvis-inspired product. Fans made it clear that they still possess a burning love for the famous combination. Reese's apparently responded to the claimant, "There's always a chance you'll get to enjoy this perfect combination again as we do on occasion bring back limited editions. A lot of factors go into making these decisions, including the feedback we get from our fans. We're glad to hear it was a fan favorite, and we'll be sure to add your vote for its return!"

To many, there's still hope that these legendary banana-infused candies might make a comeback. The active petition gathers signatures like fans at a rock 'n roll concert. In that way, the memory of the sweet, salty, unforgettable indulgence lives on. Like Elvis himself, they may have left the building, but they'll forever be in the hearts of fellow peanut butter and banana aficionados. Over the years, the chocolate brand's portfolio has been adorned with various finite and seasonal treats, but Reese's Peanut Butter & Banana Creme Cups have remained the sugary delight some folks still dream of, like a record on heavy rotation. Thank you, thank you very much, Reese's, and of course, Elvis.
