Reformation Launches Swimwear for the First Time
Cult favorite eco fashion brand Reformation is diving into the swimwear business.
The company, known for its retro aesthetic — seen most prominently in its vintage-inspired floral maxi dresses and billowy, breezy blouses in pops of colors — continues to look to the past for its new swimwear line: a vintage-inspired swimwear collection with a modern, Reformation-style twist.
Key styles include an off-the-shoulder, black-and-white checkered bikini. The check pattern is also spotted in a sweetheart-neck one-piece suit featuring a bow tie and a cutout (as seen in photo above). Then there is a butterscotch yellow-and-white striped bikini featuring a retro, high-waisted bottom, a nod to the popular swim silhouette of the ’60s. And finally, there is the Baywatch–inspired suit: a simple red one-piece like the one iconically worn by Yasmine Bleeth in the ’90s.
The brand, led by founder Yael Aflalo, is known for her L.A. cool-girl aesthetic. Although the collection is a tight edit of pieces that work together, Aflalo is likely banking on her loyal L.A. consumer base — which includes Hollywood celebs — to take it to the next level. Don’t be surprised if you see it-girls like Emily Ratajkowski and Hailey Baldwin sporting these suits all summer long, considering their track record as fans of Reformation.
Note that a bikini will set you back $156 (bikini tops and bottoms start at $78), with one-piece suits starting at $148. The new #RefoSwim line is available now at thereformation.com and in stores.
