Who Is Regé-Jean Page (AKA Simon in ‘Bridgerton’)? And Why Does He Look Familiar?
It didn’t take long for Bridgerton to become one of Netflix’s most-watched TV shows. If you’ve already watched the popular series, then you’ve probably fallen in love with Regé-Jean Page, who plays the ever-so-charming Duke of Hastings.
So, who is the 31-year-old actor? And will he return for Bridgerton season two? Here’s everything we know about Regé-Jean Page.
1. Who is Regé-Jean Page?
Page is a British-Zimbabwean actor. Although he was born in London, he spent part of his childhood in Zimbabwe before returning to the U.K. for secondary school. It’s during this time that Page picked up acting as a hobby. After joining the National Youth Theatre, he graduated with a degree from Drama Centre London.
2. What is 'Bridgerton'?
Page portrays Simon Basset (AKA the Duke of Hastings) in Bridgerton. Although he’s one of the most eligible bachelors, Simon has no intention of marrying and, therefore, producing an heir. To get everyone off his back, he makes a pact with Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor), who agrees to fake a budding relationship.
Unfortunately, Page won’t return for Bridgerton season two, according to a recent announcement by Lady Whistledown. “Dear Readers, while all eyes turn to Lord Anthony Bridgerton’s quest to find a Viscountess, we bid adieu to Regé-Jean Page, who so triumphantly played the Duke of Hastings,” she wrote. “We’ll miss Simon’s presence onscreen, but he will always be a part of the Bridgerton family.”
3. What else has he appeared in?
In addition to Bridgerton, Page has starred in several noteworthy TV shows, like Casualty, Fresh Meat, Waterloo Road, Spark, Roots and For the People. Film credits include Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows—Part 2, Survivor, The Merchant of Venice, Mortal Engines and Sylvie’s Love. *Adds to streaming queue*
4. Is he single?
To our knowledge, yes. However, Page is known for keeping his private life on the DL, so we could be totally wrong. In the meantime, we’ll be decoding his social media in an attempt to find clues.
