Stacey Stevens’s uncle built the home at 211 Hubert Court and upon his death the property was inherited by her father.
“My parents used the home as a rental property for years until I moved back home from college and needed somewhere to stay, so I rented it from them,” Stevens said.
Eventually, her parents decided they no longer wanted to live in Philpot, so they decided to utilize some of the land on the property for a stick built manufactured home.
“They wanted to be closer to me and to everything going on in the city,” Stevens said. “It was more convenient for them as they got older.”
The two homes are situated next to each other at the end of Hubert Court located off Highway 144 across from McDonald’s, Kroger and T&T Vendors Mall on the eastern outskirts of Owensboro.
“Mom and Dad loved that they were near everything here,” Stevens said. “The homes are a just a few minutes from downtown, from the hospital, from entertainment, from Reid’s Orchard and from Yellow Creek Park.”
The homes are also uniquely situated along a bend in the Ohio River.
Stevens said that her parents loved sitting out on the back deck of the 209 property to watch the peace and tranquility brought from the river.
“It’s the perfect place to watch the sunset,” Stevens said.
The stick-built manufactured home was replaced about eight years ago after a house fire took the old home. The current model sitting in its place, which is fixed to a permanent stone foundation, was built by Deer Valley Homebuilders in 2016.
“The house is practically brand new,” Stevens said.
Both decks on the home are new. All of the furniture is being provided to the new owner at no additional cost, along with updated stainless steel appliances in the kitchen. There are two living spaces, one including a tray ceiling and fireplace which opens up via French doors to the back deck.
The home also contains three bedrooms and two full bathrooms.
Also unique to the property is the custom built garage which was tailored to house a travel trailer or motor home. The roof has also been recently replaced.
“The garage has two doors for cars on the ends and a larger, taller space for the motor home in the middle. My dad did that so he could store his motor home on the property,” Stevens said.
Stevens also mentioned that a dock leading out into the Ohio River could potentially be built on the property with permission from the Corps of Engineers.
“The neighbors beside us have a dock, so it’s just about checking into the option to see what’s possible,” Stevens said.
The “little white house”, as Stevens lovingly refers to it, located next door has been recently updated with new laminate flooring, new paint and modernized bathroom. The Cape Cod style home includes two bedrooms and one full bathroom and allows an abundance of natural light to flow through the windows.
The “little white house” also has charming arched doorways and cute arched French doors in the living space along with a wood-burning fireplace. There is laundry located in the basement and a washer and dryer has been provided to the new homeowner.
Stevens describes the neighborhood as quiet and serene, “a little peace of Heaven off of Highway 144.”
“My parents always said it would take $1,000,000 to get them to leave here,” Stevens joked. “They just enjoyed living here so much.”
Stevens said that she thinks the properties would make a great investment opportunity or Air BNB for someone.
“But it can be someone’s forever home, too. I think another family would enjoy the property just as much as my family has enjoyed it all these years,” she said.
Both properties are marketed through Tony Clark Realtors with prices for each individual home or both houses together for $569,900. Realtor Angela Clark will be hosting an open house for the properties from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, June 30.
