New restaurant will 'remain a taqueria' on West Central Street in Natick

NATICK For the second time in a year, a West Central Street storefront that has housed a Mexican-themed restaurant will be rebranded.

Cinco Chiles Taqueria will be the name of the newest restaurant going into the space on 215 West Central St. (Route 135), adjacent to Planet Fitness. It will take the place of Burrito Spice, which had opened just last year.

Before that, the location was home to still another Mexican-themed restaurant, Sol de Mexico, which had closed earlier in 2023. Sol de Mexico still has locations in Bellingham, Milford and Taunton.

Cinco Chiles Taqueria is owned and operated by Erica Sanabria, of Lynn.

A new Mexican-themed restaurant, Cinco Chiles Taqueria, plans to open at 215 West Central St. (Route 135) in Natick.

'Decided to switch gears': Sol de Mexico won't be coming to Sudbury after all

"It's going to remain a taqueria my family is from Guatemala and El Salvador, but I grew up in Houston, so we will be serving Mexican food," Sanabria told the Daily News.

Sanabria got her experience working in restaurants when her family moved to Massachusetts, as her parents operated a taqueria in Chelsea.

"It was very much a family-owned small business, I did everything from washing dishes, waiting tables, to cooking the food," Sanabria said.

Sanabria's mother is still in the restaurant business; she owns Antojitos Cafe in Waltham, a popular Central American eatery on Moody Street. Sanabria said the chance to purchase the business from Burrito Spice's owners was a great opportunity to open her own restaurant.

"The restaurant has been recently renovated, so there isn't a lot of capital that has to go into the space," she said. "I'm going to start by making little changes. It will be a gradual process as the restaurant changes."

Sanabria hopes to be open in the new few weeks. She is scheduled to appear April 3 before the Natick Select Board to seek a common victualer license.
