Rep your flag during these West Indian events for Labor Day
NEW YORK, N.Y. (PIX11) — The West Indian American Day Carnival will bring the party to Brooklyn during Labor Day weekend but ahead of the parade’s march, get your flags ready with West Indian events across the city.
There will be many parties, fêtes and boat rides going on ahead of the NY Caribbean Carnival but some in particular will offer special performances or appearances by big names from the Caribbean American scene.
Kes On the Pier
Aug. 31 from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Pier 4

Brooklyn, NY 11220Trinidadian soca group Kes, known for the 2017 hit “Hello,” will host a Labor Day celebration on Brooklyn’s pier. Tickets for the event are going fast but various package deals are still available.
Labor Day Weekend with ZAFEM
Aug. 31 from 10pm to Sep. 1 at 4 a.m.

Brooklyn, NY 11236Hailing from Haiti, the Kompa band ZAFEM will headline the labor day event at the Bentley’s Club in Brooklyn. Tickets are available for multiple package deals for the event.
New York Junior Carnival & Youth Festival 2024
August 31 at 9 a.m.
Brooklyn Museum

Brooklyn, NY 11238Since adults don’t get to have all the fun during Labor Day, the organizers behind the NY Caribbean Carnival will also host a kid-friendly parade at the Brooklyn Museum. The annual Junior Carnival will feature various live performances as well as a junior king and queen crowning. The fun will wrap up by helping kids and families with a back-to-school giveaway. Ticket sales for the event end soon.

Jamaica, NY 11434Artists like Marcia Griffiths, Jada Kingdom and Patrice Roberts will bring the sounds of reggae, soca, dancehall and more to this day long festival in Queens. In between performances, visitors can also enjoy food and shopping from Caribbean owned small businesses. Tickets are still available for purchase online.

Brooklyn, NY 11220Back for its 10th year, this annual Labor Day party celebrates the Caribbean musical style of soca. Accordingly, the event will be headlined by artists like Nadia Batson and Skinny Fabulous. Ticket sales end soon on EventBrite.
