Richard and Susan Friedman were chairman and chairwoman for the event, which included cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, a preview of the 2024-2025 season, and a spotlight on the significant work led by its Palm Beach Center to Combat Antisemitism and Hatred.
The center, co-chaired by Steven Tananbaum and Richard Friedman, is focused on combating antisemitism and rising hate in Palm Beach County through advocacy, leadership, security and educational outreach. This initiative has become the model for other communities across the country.
Matthew Kernkraut, the federation’s executive vice president, shared news of major successes from the past year, including a Community Leaders Tour to Israel for non-Jewish leaders, grants to increase security at Jewish schools and institutions, and advocacy to create stronger legal consequences for hate speech.
Jason Taubman Kalisman, one of the center's Cornerstone Founders and the recent recipient of the organization's 2024 Robert S. and Ceil N. Levy Leadership Award, underscored his commitment to fighting rising antisemitism in Palm Beach County.
The evening also featured guest speaker Dara Horn, author of "People Love Dead Jews: Report from a Haunted Present," the winner of the 2021 National Jewish Book Award for Contemporary Jewish Life and Practice.
More than 75 people attended.
