This Resort Town in Turkey Painted 400 Homes into a Magical Cascading Rainbow
Somewhere over the rainbow...there’s a town that’s perfectly drenched in color.
Ku?adas?, which is already a go-to beach resort town on Turkey’s western Aegean coast, has refreshed and revitalized part of its neighborhoods with gorgeous, Instagram-worthy color.
According to Lonely Planet, 400 homes in Ku?adas?’s Tepe neighborhood have been repainted in shades of pink, blue, yellow, orange, green and purple as part of a project called “Let’s Colour,” put forth by the Marshall paint brand.
The result is a cascade of eye-pleasing color that looks like it’s running down from the highest peak of Ku?adas?. Almost like a unicorn spilled a bucket of rainbows on the mountain.
Ku?adas? Mayor ?zer Kayal? said that Tepe was particularly chosen for its key location in the town. “It’s the first place seen by tourists when they arrive at Ku?adas? port. It makes for a striking panorama, which is why we believe this project will make a great contribution to our community,” he said in a statement, according to Lonely Planet.
The 400 colorful homes in Ku?adas? are only one project of the 2,300 projects around the world that Marshall hopes to complete by April.
Not only do the brightly colored homes bring a colorful vibe to the neighborhood in general, they may even spark a surge in tourism to the area.
Ku?adas? is certainly not the first town in the world to give itself a facelift in order to attract international tourists. The residents of Kampung Pelangi, Indonesia, also painted their homes in bright, rainbow colors in hopes of spiking tourism – to some success as well, according to The Independent.
Because nothing makes an excellent travel photo quite like a rainbow.
So, not only does it look like Ku?adas? is likely to stay on track as one of the area’s most popular resort destinations, it may also see even more tourists wandering the streets looking for the perfect Instagram snap.
