Retail Store Launches Campaign for California Kitten Season
A famous pet retailer in Concord, California, has unveiled its latest campaign. With this initiative, Pet Food Express aims to help shelters and rescue organizations deal with the high influx of kittens. The campaign is called “Kitten Season” and is an annual campaign that lasts for a month.

Pet Food Express is focusing on aiding 83 non-profit rescue and shelter organizations with the campaign, as Business Insider reports. Additionally, they are inviting people to take part in the campaign. Individuals can visit their web page, or any of the 66 Pet Food Express stores between April 1 and 28.
They recommend three significant ways to help the thousands of California kittens seeking new homes. People can either adopt a kitten from a local rescue or shelter, foster a kitten, or donate to local rescues and shelters.
In addition, Megan Kniepkamp, Pet Food Express’s Community Manager, shared her thoughts regarding the campaign. She said, “Kitten season puts serious strain on California’s animal rescue network from April through November.” Continuing, she added, “The single biggest way to help is by fostering. Every pet in a foster home means that two lives are saved: the pet in the foster home and the pet who takes their place in the shelter.”
Moreover, the retail store’s Kitten Season campaign gathered and donated over $217,430 worth of products to local rescues and shelters in 2023. They also offer complimentary resources and practical “How to Foster” advice for kitten fosters through their blog, “The Pet Owner’s Handbook.”
Furthermore, Kitten Season represents just one of several impactful community programs run annually by Pet Food Express. Their other campaigns include Fill the Food Bank, Pet Fair, and Holiday Shopping Spree. In 2023, through these initiatives, the company provided over $1.3 million in financial assistance and facilitated the adoption of numerous pets, ranging from tiny kittens to beloved senior dogs.
