After Retiring from Racing, Danica Patrick Wants to Help You Live Healthier

The world watched last Sunday as Danica Patrick slammed into a wall at speeds upwards of 130 miles per hour at her final race, the Indianapolis 500. It was the last time she would ever race on a speedway after announcing her retirement from the sport earlier last year. But if she has her way, Patrick will soon be on your television screens once more—promoting a new cookbook that's currently the works, or even on a cooking show of her own, she says.

Back in December 2017, Patrick released a book called Pretty Intense: The 90-Day Mind, Body and Food Plan that will absolutely Change Your Life, and it's reigned supreme on Amazon's best sellers list for health titles ever since. And a recent interview with NBC Sports confirms that the former NASCAR superstar will soon start work on a new cookbook. And that's not all—she's staying pretty busy in her retirement.

The projects that Patrick is involved in include a new venture into the wine industry with her very own winery (!), touring the Pretty Intense fitness manual on the road, working on her clothing line, a new workout program, a meal delivery service, and a new blog. She's confirmed that her cookbook will be aimed at wholesome, nutritious eating that she's grown to love while training.

While not much is known about the new book itself, Pretty Intense gives us an insight into Danica's style in the kitchen—one of her standout recipes is for cashew rosemary cookies.

Patrick shared with Delish that the recipe is a family one ("My mom has a jar of them in her house at all times") and that the recipe comes together with just a handful of ingredients, a kind of ease that she enjoys when it comes to cooking her own meals at home.

Patrick also says that multiple networks have approached her to launch a cooking show of her own, a project she's sleeping on before she signs any contracts. "Like in my book, I want to show more about the mind-body connection," she told Delish. "Something that shows how food can complement a healthy lifestyle."

While many of those who immediately recognize Patrick's name and likeness might expect her to ease into retirement after 20 plus years of racing, she tells NBC Sports that she's focused on working on many projects in the immediate future, which starts with hosting ESPN's annual ESPY awards later this summer—and working on the new cookbook while in Green Bay, Wisconsin, where her boyfriend and Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers will participate in the team's training season.

“I think I have definitely big dreams and aspirations for myself, for all my companies, for the kind of emotion I want to have on a day-to-day basis,” she told NBC. “I’m looking forward to a good, easy, happy, calm, joyful, exciting, adventurous life. If I say I want it, there’s a very good chance that’s what I’ll get.”

Every aspect of Patrick's Pretty Intense—workouts, holistic health, fitness and nutrition—could be a new vehicle for one of the most recognizable names in racing to find success with in the future. Could Danica Patrick be headed to daytime stardom on television and racing towards building a lifestyle empire of her own? Time will tell, but we're sure she'll manage just fine.
