Revisit Prince William and Kate Middleton's Engagement Interview, 10 Years Later

Prince William Secretly Tested Positive for Coronavirus in April

Kate Middleton reportedly never contracted the virus.

After season 4 of The Crown premiered on Friday, everyone is understandably enraptured by Prince Charles and Princess Diana's engagement interview (during which he did indeed say, "whatever 'in love' means").

But as timing would have it (as Cosmopolitan pointed out) Monday is the ten-year anniversary of another royal engagement: that of Prince William and Kate Middleton.

On November 16, 2010, Prince William and Kate Middleton announced their engagement and took part in a traditional interview to discuss their relationship and how the proposal went down.

During the interview, Prince William revealed he had popped the question about three weeks prior, during a trip to Kenya with a group of friends.

"We had a little private time away together with some friends and I just decided that it was the right time, really," he said. "We had been talking about marriage for a while so it wasn't a massively big surprise. I took her up somewhere nice in Kenya and I proposed."

The couple also discussed their brief split prior to the proposal, of which Kate said, ""At the time wasn't very happy about it, but actually it made me a stronger person, you find out things about yourself that maybe you hadn't realized, or I think you can get quite consumed by a relationship when you are younger and I really valued that time for me as well although I didn't think it at the time. Looking back on it."

Less than six months after the interview aired, Prince William and Kate Middleton married at a ceremony at Westminster Abbey in London.
