The RHA T20 Wireless Are the Ultimate Neckband Earbuds
When it comes to earbuds, the trend is truly wireless. Meaning companies have literally cut all cords. But the RHA T20 Wireless earbuds are bound to remind audio aficionados that more is, well, more.
As the in-house audiophile, I put the RHA T20 Wireless neckband earbuds to the test, using them y main earbuds. And here's a summary of my thoughts: If you're shopping for neckband earbuds, these should be your gold standard, and if you're obsessed with high-quality wireless sound, you need to give them serious consideration.
Here's why.
They Have Customizable Sound With Exceptional Quality
Equipped with high-quality audio drivers, the RHA T20 Wireless earbuds deliver sound that’s on another level when compared to similarly priced competitors. What sets the buds even further apart is the ability to customize the sound on a hardware level with tuning filters.
RHA has bundled the headset with a reference filter for true-to-life sound, one for punchier bass, as well as one for enhanced treble — each set has a different color. They are easy to install and store. I really like their awesome-looking metal holder with a handy color guide.
My favorite Thievery Corporation tracks sounded even more mellow through the bass filter. A Vivaldi concerto sounded even more uplifting with the treble filter on. The reference filter, on the other hand, is all about delivering audiophile-grade, distortion-free sound that's free of unnecessary enhancements.
The RHA T20 Wireless audio performance during phone calls was unsurprisingly good during my testing. The same goes for the quality of the wireless connection between the earbuds and the devices I connected them to.
They're a Benchmark for Craftsmanship
Crafted from stainless steel, the RHA T20 Wireless housings' finish is decidedly luxurious. Compared to their rivals, they look and feel like they belong in a much higher price point. Industry-leading craftsmanship has long been typical for RHA products, and I was pleased to discover that the T20 Wireless earbuds are no exception.
RHA backs the product with a 3-year warranty, which is the best in the business by a wide margin. You will not find a pair of wireless earbuds with better build quality in this price point and way beyond.
They're Comfortable
The stainless steel audio drivers of the RHA T20 Wireless earbuds feel substantial in hand, yet they are impressively comfortable. The manufacturer has achieved this feat using an injection molding manufacturing method. Combined with the around-ear cables and the rich selection of ear tips (there are 11 pairs in the box), it ensures long-lasting comfort.
The neckband of the earbuds is also comfy and easy to adjust. During my testing, I spent entire workdays wearing the T20 Wireless without feeling any fatigue.
They Have Excellent Battery Life
You can expect up to 12 hours of battery life between charges from RHA T20 Wireless earbuds — an excellent achievement for such a product. Depending on your listening habits, that’s enough to keep you entertained for one full day of listening, or several days’ worth of more casual use. Like all wireless products by RHA, the T20 Wireless earbuds charge via a USB-C connector.
You Can Use Them in Wired Mode
Being an audiophile-centric brand, RHA has ensured that you can also use the T20 Wireless earbuds in wired mode. All you need to do is detach the audio drivers from the neckband and snap them onto the bundled audio cable.
This feature is great for users who like their favorite tunes in studio-quality, lossless audio formats, as wireless headphones and earbuds are not up for such tasks. It’s also handy in case you run out of battery and can’t immediately recharge the buds. However, it’s worth noting that the cable lacks a built-in microphone for making calls.
Wrap-Up
A soft carrying case, a charging cable, and duo of clothing clips are also part of the headset’s retail package. RHA is asking $250 for the T20 Wireless earbuds. The price tag is certainly a tad steep, but considering the craftsmanship, versatility, and performance you are going to get, it's worth every penny. The product also received a high review score from PCMag.
If you're even more obsessed with audio accuracy and have cash that’s burning a hole in your pocket, consider the RHA CL2 Planar in-ear monitors instead. Featuring attention-commanding ceramic housings, they won’t leave any detail from your favorite music behind. Buyers shopping for wireless neckband earbuds on a tighter budget should consider the RHA MA750 Wireless instead.
