Rick Springfield, 73, Sweetly Credits His Wife for His Fit Physique
At 73 years old, singer-songwriter Rick Springfield has a physique that many are jealous of, with the musician showing off his abs and muscular arms often while touring.
According to a recent interview with People, he credits his wife, Barbara Porter, with keeping him in such great shape. Springfield shared that he's "fortunate" that Porter, whom he's been married to since 1984, is such an "amazing chef."
The "Jessie's Girl" singer went on, "She's absolutely incredible. And I'm certainly not a cook. When I was a bachelor, I'd make a big pot of brown rice, chop up an onion and put that in the rice with a can of tuna. I'd have that, a baked potato and salad and live off that for a month. Barbara comes up with these incredible things. She loves cooking."
Springfield also shared that he once tried to be a vegan, but said, "It made me feel great, but I looked like hell. A friend of mine came up to me and said, 'Are you OK?' I got so thin. So I had to put fish back in [for protein]."
Along with his great diet, Springfield puts in the work both on his own and with his trainer to build up muscle and stay in shape, leaving many fans shocked when they see him shirtless in concert.

One person commented on a fan's photo of the star from his tour last year, "That’s Rick Springfield?? I didn’t recognize him wow!! he looks ripped."
Springfield told People, "I work out every day. I just got a trainer, and I've been working out with him. Basically, I watch what I eat, and I try and stay active."
The musician, who is currently touring across the U.S., explained that he has to be in good shape for his shows, as they are "very active and aerobic," adding, "It takes a lot of energy. We actually come off the road in better shape than we went on."
Springfield and his wife of almost 40 years share two sons, Liam and Joshua, and they live in Malibu, Florida.
