Ricky Rebel wears 'Keep America Great' jacket to 2019 Grammys: 'I'm not sorry for anything'
Joy Villa isn’t the only entertainer making a political statement at the 2019 Grammy Awards — Ricky Rebel joined her by publicizing his pro-Trump stance through fashion.
The singer-songwriter stepped onto the red carpet Sunday evening in a striking look, which included bedazzled boots, mirrored glasses and a red, white and blue jacket. The reversible jacket read “Keep America Great!” on the front, and “Trump” on the back.
Rebel posted a video to YouTube on Grammys night to explain the fashion statement designed by Filipino-American designer Andre Soriano (Soriano designed Villa’s 2017 “Make America Great Again” gown).
Rebel explained that he wanted to channel an alpha on the red carpet. “Donald Trump, to me, represents alpha energy. And he also makes me want to be my own alpha,” Rebel said. “I’m not sorry for anything. I do not apologize for voting for who I wanted to vote for.”
Rebel also included a nod to his latest album, The New Alpha.
