Ridley Scott Will Direct an Action Thriller Next

With Gladiator 2 set to resume filming and Napoleon still on its theatrical run, Ridley Scott is staying booked and busy as Deadline reveals his next project.

The four-time Oscar nominee is set to direct BOMB, based on the Kevin McMullin short story. McMullin will write the screenplay for the story that has piqued studios' interest, with ten bidders at the table, including Apple, Netflix, Sony and Warner Bros.

20th Studios won the battle with Scott Free Productions producing.

BOMB is being described as an action thriller similar to Dog Day Afternoon and Speed. The synopsis, as per Deadline, reveals:

Frankie Ippolito is a hostage negotiator called into duty the night before his wedding in London. A man who has parked himself in a construction site in Piccadilly Circus is standing on a newly uncovered, unexploded bomb from WWII. He tells local law enforcement he will only speak with Frankie, and this sets off a chain of events in which Frankie is drawn into an overnight struggle to stop the bomber with whom he has a past.

BOMB does not have a screenplay just yet, so it'll be a while before the film's ready to head into production.

For now, the focus is Gladiator 2, which features an epic baboon fight.
