Rihanna & Beyoncé Had a Moment at the Diamond Ball

With just a six-item live auction, the event raised $1,125,000 for the foundation. Two tickets to the Obama Foundation's October summit in Chicago - which includes a meeting with the former president there - sold for the highest amount, $275,000. More money will be raised through a silent auction.
At the beginning of the night Rihanna gave opening remarks to the crowd on what drives her philanthropic spirit. "I started CLF five years ago in honor of my grandparents, Clara and Lionel, who instilled in me everyone can make a difference," she said. "I am thrilled to bring the Diamond Ball to New York City, and everyone closer to the mission, the programs, and the people at the heart of it all. Together, we are funding groundbreaking and effective education, health, and emergency programs. We’re investing in the future and helping to improve the quality of life of people and their families around the globe."
