Rihanna says she won’t 'be ashamed' of her pregnant belly: 'My body is doing incredible things right now'
Rihanna's maternity fashion has been changing the game.
The 34-year-old entrepreneur, who is in the third trimester of her pregnancy, appears on the cover of Vogue's May issue wearing a lace bodysuit.
Beyond the cover, she pushed the boundaries even further, baring her belly and accessorizing with chains. In a profile written by Chioma Nnadi, Rihanna admitted, "When I found out I was pregnant, I thought to myself, There’s no way I’m going to go shopping in no maternity aisle," adding, "I’m sorry—it’s too much fun to get dressed up. I’m not going to let that part disappear because my body is changing."
Rihanna went on to say that she still gets caught off guard when she's reminded of how her body has evolved. "As much as it's happening, it's also not happening," she said. "Sometimes I'll walk past my reflection and be like, 'Oh shit!"
Still, she's fully embracing the changes by baring her midriff in a number of jaw-dropping looks.
"I’m hoping that we were able to redefine what’s considered 'decent' for pregnant women," she explained. "My body is doing incredible things right now, and I’m not going to be ashamed of that. This time should feel celebratory. Because why should you be hiding your pregnancy?"
She even shared a behind the scenes video from her photoshoot with the magazine where she's seen cradling her belly in one of the looks.
"Hey angel mama," Gigi Hadid commented on the post.
"You are MAGIC," another wrote.
Rihanna also gave credit to her stylist who has helped her to execute her visions as her body changes.
"I know he loses sleep over it because my measurements can literally change from hour to hour," she joked. "In fact I’m sure he’s going to ask for a raise after this!"
