Rihanna’s Black Hoodie Costs More Than $1,000
Rihanna has cemented her status as a style icon in the fashion industry in recent years: She’s released her own clothing and beauty lines and designed a wildly popular sneaker for Puma. The 28-year-old is known for attention-grabbing looks, and the pieces she wears usually sell out almost instantly.
The pop star has been photographed in a simple, black-hooded sweatshirt from the Vetements spring/summer 2016 collection.
The price tag on this seemingly nondescript outer garment? $1,052.
$1,052.
The hoodie — which features the word “hoodie” printed on the front, the Parisian design collective’s logo on the hood, and a definition of the word “hoodie” on the back — is currently sold out, likely due to its prominence in Rihanna’s latest looks.
The singer was most recently spotted wearing the Vetements garment along with other expensive pieces while heading to the set of Ocean’s Eight in New York City.
Wearing the sweatshirt as a dress despite the cold temperatures, she paired it with a $1,910 Louis Vuitton minibackpack, $990 white Maison Margiela embellished buckle sneakers, and $460 Gucci embellished ribbed cotton-blend socks.
The price of the oversized sweatshirt might seem shocking and ridiculous to some, but it falls within the Parisian design collective’s standard price range for hoodies.
Fans of the brand often pay extremely high prices to get a piece bearing the streetwear’s logo. A single pair of jeans can cost a shopper more than $2,000, while a pair of cotton sport socks bearing the label’s name retails for $95.
Considering that Rihanna landed the number-four spot on Forbes’s list of the world’s highest-paid women in the music industry in 2016 — having pulled in $75 million — it’s not surprising that she often wears pricey Vetements pieces. At the 30th Footwear News Achievement Awards, during which the singer’s Fenty Puma Creeper won the award for Shoe of the Year, she wore a look from the label’s spring 2017 ready-to-wear collection with her own creepers.
Rihanna isn’t the only member of the celeb set that supports the luxe brand. Shirts and sweaters inscribed with unique messages designed by Vetements are often featured in stars’ Instagram posts.

With such a hefty price tag, it will be interesting to see if Vetements stays trending.
