Rob Gronkowski Reveals the One Thing That Would Bring Him Out of Retirement
The NFL hasn't been quite the same ever since Rob Gronkowski retired after a long and entertaining career with the New England Patriots alongside Tom Brady. And while you shouldn't expect him on your Sunday Night Football screen anytime soon, the former tight end did reveal one thing that would get him out of retirement: Olympic flag football.
TMZ caught up with Gronk in a new interview, where he discussed the possibility of flag football being added to the roster of sports for the 2028 Olympic Games. And he's totally on board.
He started off by reflecting on his time in the NFL, saying he missed the locker room but not the physical toll it took on his body.
"I don't miss going out there and getting banged up man," he said. "That's the tough part of the game, getting hit week in and week out. But I can tell you this, if there was an NFL flag football league, I would be playing in that currently as we speak."
After finding out that flag football is indeed a possibility for a future Olympics, Gronk said he was all-in on the idea.
"Count me in already. Hopefully there's no tryouts and they just accept me. But I'm in. I'm going for that if there's flag football in the Olympics in 2028. USA going all the way baby."
The Associated Press reports that the Olympic Committee is set to vote later this week on a proposal to include flag football in the 2028 games, which will be held in Los Angeles. It's a fitting possibility, considering it's the first time the summer Olympics will return to the United States in 32 years. Other potential sports for inclusion are baseball, softball, lacrosse, squash, and cricket.
