Robert Irwin Gets Bit in the Face by the Same Type of Snake as Late Dad Steve: 'Déjà Vu'
Like father, like son. Robert Irwin shared a video on Instagram of himself being bitten by the same type of python that snapped at his late father, Steve Irwin.
The 19-year-old showed the same bravery as his dad, barely flinching when the snake chomped on his nose. "Alright, so I'll get this cleaned up a little bit," he said with a smile, while bleeding. "Luckily he didn't get my eyeball."
He captioned the clip, "Déjà vu. Dad and me getting bitten by the same species of snake (carpet python) decades apart. I found this python on the side of a road, but as you can see, sometimes snake rescues don’t quite go to plan ??."
Steve's fans shared comments remarking how Robert shares his dad's calm nature and unwavering love for animals.
"I love that Roberts response to the bite is patience and grace just like his dads. ?? Most people’s immediate response to being hurt like that is anger," read a comment.
"Robert don't make me cry!!! You are your dad made over, he's so proud of you! We all are," shared another fan.
Like his father, Robert is also a zookeeper at the Australia Zoo and a TV personality, starring in an Animal Planet series, titled Crikey! It's the Irwins, alongside sister Bindi and mom Terri.
Though the series hasn't returned for its fifth season yet, Robert makes sure to keep fans updated on the happenings at the Australia Zoo. Recently, he shared the zoo welcomed the rare "Irwin's Turtle," which was discovered by his dad. In a clip showing him holding the turtle, he noted it was "one of the most unique animals" he's had the privilege to be around."
