After more than a year of dating, Robert Irwin and Rorie Buckey have announced their breakup.
On Friday, Feb. 16, the Australian conservationist (and son of Terri Irwin and the late Steve Irwin), 20, and the niece of late actor Heath Ledger, 19, revealed their split with identical Instagram Story messages.
“We wanted to share that we have decided to go our separate ways but profoundly appreciate all the time spent together and wish one another all the very best into the future,” they wrote. “We wish to express the gratitude and respect we have for one another as we continue our journeys on different paths."
The joint statement concluded: "We won't be commenting further on this, and really appreciate your respect and privacy at this time."
Although they were romantically linked since November 2022, Buckey and Irwin made their red carpet debut as a couple on July 3 at the Sydney premiere for Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One.
Irwin and Buckey went "Instagram official" with their relationship in July 2023. The zookeeper did so with a sweet (since-deleted) and a simple caption, "??????."
On Nov. 7, Buckey also joined Irwin at Prince William's third-annual Earthshot Prize ceremony in Singapore. The conservationist presented one of the awards, honoring innovation in environmentalism.

As of writing, it appears Irwin has wiped his Instagram grid of photos of Buckey. He has recently promoted The Crocodile Hunter Lodge and the Warrior Restaurant and Bar at Australia zoo and posted pictures with his mom, sister Bindi Irwin, brother-in-law Chandler Powell and niece Grace.
