Robert De Niro's Daughter Shares Teenage Son's Cause of Death
A cause of death has been revealed for Robert De Niro's 19-year-old grandson Leandro De Niro Rodriguez.
In response to an Instagram comment from someone inquiring what caused Leandro's death, the boy's mother, Drena, who is De Niro's daughter, wrote, "Someone sold him fentanyl laced pills that they knew were laced yet still sold them to him so for all these people still f---king around selling and buying this s--t, my son is gone forever ??."
Drena had shared the harrowing news of Leandro's passing on June 3 with a statement on the social media app.
She wrote, "My beautiful sweet angel. I have loved you beyond words or description from the moment I felt you in my belly. You have been my joy my heart and all that was ever pure and real in my life. I wish I was with you right now. I wish I was with you."
Her message continued, "I don’t know how to live without you but Ill [sic] try to go on and spread the love and light that you so made me feel in getting to be your mama . You were so deeply loved and appreciated and I wish that love alone could have saved you ??I’m so sorry my baby , I’m so sorry @carlosmare ????. Rest in Peace and Eternal Paradise my darling boy ??????????????????????????."
Hours later, De Niro shared a statement with press on his grandson's passing, writing, "I'm deeply distressed by the passing of my beloved grandson Leo. We're greatly appreciative of the condolences from everyone. We ask that we please be given privacy to grieve our loss of Leo."
According to TMZ's previous reports, law officials noted that Leandro's death was being investigated as an overdose after drugs were found near his body. He was allegedly found dead in an apartment by a friend who decided to check in after not hearing from him for a few days.
