Robins Street Art Stroll returns Saturday
TUPELO — Boasting more vendors than any previous year, the Robins Street Art Stroll returns to the Historic Downtown Tupelo neighborhood this Saturday.
From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, more than 70 art vendors will be on site, said Susan McGukin, chairman of the event. Their work spans painting, pottery, jewelry, sculpture, woodworking, metal working, fabric and fiber art and graphic art.
Vendor applications for the event, which began in 2016 and is sponsored by the Historic Downtown Tupelo Neighborhood Association, typically accepted until a couple of weeks before the festival, but the applicant cutoff this year was mid-June due to increased interest from vendors.
At least half of the artists this year have previously participated in the art stroll, McGukin said, but there will be plenty of new artists for attendees to check out. This year's slate of artists includes individuals from across Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee and even one from Indiana.
New to the art stroll this year is a competition for vendors, with judges awarding "best of show" and other accolades, McGukin said. Judging will take place in the morning, and the winners will be announced in the afternoon.
The event will include a silent auction featuring items donated by vendors, and three musicians/musical groups will perform throughout the day.
Food vendors include Talbot House, Just Love Coffee, Clay's House of Pig, the G-Spot food truck, Popsy and the Link Centre.
