A-Rod Suggests a Drive-Through Wedding to J. Lo: ‘It'll Be Cheaper’
Alex Rodriguez hasn’t lost his wicked wit while quarantining with Jennifer Lopez—he even joked that a social-distancing drive-through wedding might be in their future.
This week during an interview with Jimmy Fallon, A-Rod was asked if his wedding to J. Lo was postponed due to global health precautions.
“You have to go with the flow now, everything is fluid, everything’s on just a pause,” the 44-year-old star ball player said. “Obviously this is an unprecedented time. And for us, we just want to make sure that we think safety first and make sure that all the little ones are in a good place.” For instance, Rodriguez said, his daughter Ella just celebrated her 12th birthday with a drive-through party in which hundreds of cars showed up.
“Then some people said, maybe we have a drive-through wedding,” Rodriguez joked, his eyes twinkling. “It'll be cheaper.”
After he and Fallon laughed at their shared joke, they touched on the sports star’s recent days at home. Along with watching playback of games from as far back as 25 years ago on television and pining for a current baseball season, Rodriguez is focusing on philanthropy, including buying a million meals for the needy along with Lopez, Russell Wilson, Tom Brady and other sports stars.
So while the exact shape and sound of the happy couple’s wedding bells are TBD for now, their humor and heart are sheltering in place with them.
