MISHAWAKA — Ronald McDonald House Charities of Michiana asks the public to donate pop tabs to its 2nd Annual Pop Tab Palooza drive-thru event.

In partnership with United Federal Credit Union, the event will raise money and awareness for RMHC Michiana's mission: "to serve families of ill or injured children" by providing them with meals, accommodations and other services.

“Pop tabs are one of the first ways that many people get connected to our mission,” RMHC Michiana Chief Executive Officer Kierstin Eifler said in a press release. “It’s a great way to have fun while donating to help us provide a home-away-from-home for families in need.”

RMHC Michiana asks residents to collect their pop tabs and bring them into United’s Edison Lakes branch for donation on July 16. RMHC Michiana partners with OmniSource to weigh and recycle the pop tabs. OmniSource will give RMHC Michiana a cash payment to support the general operating expenses of caring for families with children receiving care at Beacon Children’s Hospital.
