'The Rookie' Star Nathan Fillion Reveals His Unique Hobby
Nathan Fillion is a man of many talents, including one slowly dwindling trade: cobbling.
The former Castle star revealed the unique hobby in a new photo shared on Instagram, in which he was forced to mend his own broken flipflop.
The snapshot found The Rookie actor backdropped by a beautiful blue, nearly cloudless sky and a swath of greenery. He had a slight amount of scruff on his face as well as a pair of glasses as he focused on the task at handāreattaching the strap of his shoe to the base with a needle and thread.
"I wish Daniel Day Lewis [sic] could see me now," he joked in the caption, adding the tags #danieldaylewis and #cobblersgottacobble.
Some fans questioned if it was somehow a reference to Day-Lewis's film My Left Foot, but it seems more likely to be related to his brief stint studying under an Italian shoemaker in the '90s.
"The art of repurposing, you do it well.??," one fan joked, while another criticized Fillion's choice to use white thread to repair his black sandal. "You do know you may get a neater result with a black thread, right?" they questioned, adding, "Then again, you work with what you have at hand??."
"My father in law did that with my flip flop in Thailand with a plastic bag!" another sympathized.
"Side hustle career," another suggested, while several commenters jokingly requested help with their own repair projects.
If this whole acting thing doesn't work out, he may just have a career in shoe repair ahead of him!
